Despite Afghanistan commonly being depicted as a giant fucking desert like most Middle Eastern countries, it actually does have some really beautiful parts to it, specifically in the east where you can find snow-peaked mountains and green valleys. Unfortunately, because Afghanistan is an eternally cursed land, mainly in part because of the people who live there, it will always be a hellhole to live in, despite it having some beauty to it.

I know it's always been a sleazy tourist place in the middle of the desert but there was something about old Las Vegas when all the old hotels had Neon and huge billboard signs that I found just enticing to me. Now all the hotels are just bland sterile towers with LEDs, the area outside of the Strip is absolutely awful with all sorts of abandoned buildings and run down houses with all sorts of drug issues, and you can't get a good hotel room on the strip for a cheap price.

In the US, I'd vote either Maryland or California.
Maryland is small, but something about the calm waters of the Chesapeake, the four seasons (mild winters, but still see snow), neat geography (fossil cliffs) and history.
California, what others have said, but I'd love the valley floor gold prairies, the oak savannahs, the massive redwoods and the literal blue-water creeks and rivers in the mountains.

Outside the US, fuck man if Venezuela weren't run by illiterate socialist retards and the streets ruled by violent crimelords and kidnapping gangs; it would be a top destination.
