This is obviously based on an American perspective, but for those outside the US, feel free to offer your own insight because one country’s based decade can be another country’s cringe decade.

1900s:
Based
  • The Hay–Pauncefote Treaty of 1901 allows for building of the Panama Canal, making trade easier
  • Big stick ideology by Theodore Roosevelt takes hold and creates a foreign policy that makes the US get taken more seriously by other nations
  • The Wright Brothers make the first airplane in 1903
Cringe
  • Poor working conditions people faced gave them more health problems, but it also helped create some of the amazing things we see today, such as the Chrysler building
  • FBI is established in 1908
  • NAACP founded in 1909
1910s
Based
  • SCOTUS breaks up Standard Oil, one of the biggest monopolies of the time

  • Columbine Shooting (as it helped push more gun control measures)
  • Gun Free Zones Act passed in 1990
Obviously, some things in the cringe categories caused more based things to happen later, and both categories feed into each other. This is not definitive and it’s highly generalized to make reading easier. This is very America-centric, so some obvious important worldwide events aren’t mentioned. Of the decades, I’d actually say the 1930s were the most based. Despite the hardship, lots of important technologies were invented and it arguably helped harden people enough to fight in WWII. No decade to me is absolutely perfect, and that’s why each one has its fair share of cringe.

1930's are pure kino in terms of music
1920's has the most interesting small scale conflicts
anything after 1945 is boring except the rise of the iNTERNET

www was created in the 90s noob. Proposed in 1989

The 30s were based because Nazis were so diverse. Letting all those faggots run the SA was a win for homos everywhere

1900s
Europeans were never so powerful before. One of the most based wars, the Boxer War also happened at the time. Japan also became a prominent power at the time, despite it being an underdeveloped country just 40 years earlier.

Why the 2020s of course.
We live in an absolute sea of laughter full of users who are prone to sharing too much info, like all their hilarious sexual fetishes, their 20 word long political ideology they got from playing hearts of iron 4, or what position they placed in a speech and debate tournament a decade back!

I think the 1900s were the only one without some kind of genocide going on. People really enjoyed killing each other in the 20th century.

1980s most based for sure. Used to love listening to my walkman as I took in the view of the city from my office window.

The 1980s had a conservative revival with Reagan, yet wasn't as conformist nor excessively prudish as the '50s, so the '80s?

(Also isn't "cucked" the opposite of "based"?)
The 50's were centrally-planned as fuck. The United States during the 1950's was "conservative" in the same way the Soviet Union and modern-day North Korea is conservative
