What was your biggest disappointment of 2021?

My career aspirations. For the first half of the year I took a job in Texas that I thought would let me gain some skills I really need but we moved to our own site just in time for the Snowpocalypse, spent the rest of the season dealing with rain and setback after setback, and I left having done none of things I specifically told them I was interested in doing. The last half of the year I've spent doing busy work while I try to deal with health issues and figure out what I'm going to do next. Shit sucks tbh.

1: That registering new accounts can't be more strict.

2: Another favorite hangout got closed down due to losses caused by covid.

3: That all this omicron panic made everyone so chickenshit that there are hardly any parties this year either. Even New York looks deader than last year. Everything is quiet, barely any fireworks compared to last year and everyone won't stop messaging me about how they think they're dying from omicron because they coughed or sneezed once yesterday. Another lame as fuck New Year's.

1. GameStonk not doing enough damage to hedgies as they deserved.

2. Bailing a wagie job to resume pre-pandemic freelance work, only to find that I'm more or less making the same money (sometimes less), but now I have to actively hunt for contracts. I need a new line of work...

3. Naively thinking covid was gonna phase out by July. Instead I get slapped in the face with indoor vaccine mandates by Bill "Spawn of Satan" DeBlasio and being made witness to actual, literal medical totalitarianism in Europe and Australia, with America only slightly lagging behind. I don't have high hopes for 2022 on the coof front.

Well at least you have a career.
I just quit my dead end job at fast food to maybe get time to go back to school but even then I have doubts.

We had financial crap happen at my workplace (which I loved working at) and several people had to be let go, including me. One of my managers quit out of the blue and left part of the business in a state of chaos and everyone suffered for it. I'm trying not to be to down about it, they promised to hire me back as soon as I can be paid again and the promise came from someone I definitely trust. But it was such a bummer. So many people are stuck in terrible jobs they hate and I had a perfect job I loved.
