What's next for the Democrats? - It seems like absolutely everyone hates the Dems now...

Looking at Xitter, Instagram comments, YouTube comments, opinion pieces in big liberal outlets like NYT, CNN segments etc., it seems like everyone is in agreement that the Democrats are useless, hypocrites, generally suck etc., like it's very much the mainstream opinion. They scored their worst electoral result in almost 40 years where they didn't flip one county ffs. There really doesn't seem any strategy or plan going forward other than licking their wounds for the duration, the party is probably in its worst state since the mid 00s, if not the 80s.

What is next for the Democrats? In fact, what does this mean for the contrarians on the farms?

Remember that things change very quickly in politics. The Republican Party was written off as dead and noncompetitive following 2012. The map looked nigh-unwinnable for a Republican prior to Trump, with things continuing to get worse based on demographic voting trends that were assumed to continue indefinitely. Demographic outreach following his securing the majority of whites, policy shift in remaking the party in his own image away from neoconservatism and interventionism, and turning blue states purple and purple states red was a seismic political shift. Perhaps once it's not specifically Trump on the ballot those gains may even reverse and return to expected levels, as well.

Democrats have a lot of issues in 2025, but by necessity and nature American political parties are reactive to appeal to the people and get votes. The 2030 census is going to present another massive hurdle as reliably red states continue to gain population and representation while blue states continue to lose population and representation, not to mention they're a party built on diversity who then have internal groups with conflicting goals and values (ask them about hemmhoraging both the Jewish and Muslim vote simultaneously somehow). Somebody will eventually step up as a transformative Democratic figure like Trump, a multiple individual movement will form, or they will seize upon Republican mistakes when the time comes. The coastal elitism and social justice zealotry is currently an albatross, especially when so many of those in their base are ardent believers in it (the ones voting in the primaries, hint hint), and you've already seen quite a few Democratic figures backing off of the hardline stuff on certain issues.

Rest assured that you can never, ever write off a political party in a two-party system. They'll adapt and be back eventually, perhaps as soon as 2028. It's going to be hard to get their people in line in the short-term as there is currently a complete vacuum of leadership, however, and they might continue to experience pain for the next few cycles as they figure stuff out and fight amongst themselves.

The Democrats have put themselves in a political checkmate. They spread around the idea of progress but now at an intersection where they have an extremist and moderate camps that will actually vote the opposite if their way isn't met. They also alienated a lot of their corporate support that decided to turn on them once they saw that the majority with the right.

You could argue they are at the same point as republicans were in 2016, but Trump is basically 2000's Democrat when all is said and done. The left can't really go back on a lot of its ideas. So it really comes down to either double down on being socialist, which would make themselves a pariah for every corporation and business, or walk down on most of the issues and keep to a specific pet issue that isn't too despised with the wide public and corporations.

Particularly given that the big figure of the Republicans in Trump will be very old and not running for president next election. Depending on how things shake they could get someone who appears competent at a time when the Republicans are looking for the next guy to replace Trump.

I have the suspicion that Vance is being set up as a natural continuance of this administration - a younger millennial who would have had 4 years behind the big boss, which could either be really good for him, or if this administration ends up in a disaster later on, really bad. Still suspect it will take at least another election cycle for it to flip again and get someone who presents as competent and not the most obnoxious dickhead female candidate possible.

Either they get right with the changing times or they'll be swallowed up, they have no other choice.

The likeliest outcome(s) I see is that they ultimately implode and splinter off into different parties that'll go nowhere, double down in their insanity, and/or they go so far extreme that they end up becoming another Weather Underground-wannabe. I don't see them coming back united, however, at least for the next election cycle, unless by some (Satanic) miracle a left-leaning Trump figure pops up out of the blue

I hope those faggots get their act together and I hope they enjoy their punishment in the meantime. I also hope republicans can keep their crazies from running the asylum like the dems did. While I lean left politically, I lean more towards not turning into walking on eggshells and people-benefiting policies, which the republicans are currently offering. You can't trust either party to always have your best interest, the best you can do is keep on your toes so politicians can be kept on their toes. As long as we remind people not to get complacent. If they don't let dumb shit get out of hand (like groypers, which is unlikely and I think there will be other crazies coming out), they can ride the tide better. I'll be fighting for some issues and be content with others introduced by the current party, not everything bad, goverment is a process and things can change.

Anyway I have no idea what those rich fags in Washington will do. Nancy Pelosi will continue to drink the blood of the youth and so will other liches on both sides, it's hard to keep track of things if you yourself are not on the ground in Washington or other government center.

Basically everything @Schwarzwald said. It's an issue of when and how they come back rather than if. The when is too early to tell at the moment, for all we know something cataclysmic happens in the next year that causes a major blue wave in the 2026 midterms and maybe even an early end to the Trump administration through impeachment and conviction in the Senate. Maybe they don't figure things out until after 4 years of a successful Trump administration and 8 of President Vance.

I keep holding out hope that they will drop the social justice obsession and coastal elitism and return to the working class party they were ~50 years ago. It's the only reason I cling to my registration as a Democrat in spite of voting solidly against them since 2016. If they don't by the next presidential election, I'll finally register with the Republicans. Another path for them is they astroturf a ton of new media to make a facsimile of what happened more or less organically for the Republicans in 2024 with podcasts, Youtubers, Tiktok (or whatever replaces it). Expect major a defection or two, like when Clint Eastwood endorsed Bloomberg in 2020 (totally not bought, I'm sure), and the social media that at the moment seems to love free speech going back to the way they were only a couple years ago. They could also have a new Obama-type figure who comes out of nowhere.

They're doubling down on their retarded bullshit. Seen people get called Nazis because they point out how Elon has Aspergers and it makes them do weird/stupid shit (reminder it's OK to attack people with disabilities if they aren't in your cult), talking about how "scary" things are and lashing out at anyone for even living in a state that was red.

If social media is anything to go by, their supporters have learned nothing. Progressive democrats keep opposing popular Trump policies like deportation, shit calling his supporters and if you go on reddit or bluesky you are already seeing astroturfing for AOC 28, which would be an unmitigated disaster election for the dems unless Trump fucks up extremely.
If these folks vote on the primary, expect the democrats to do worse than last year's elections. At a time where even California is voting for more moderate dems and rejecting fags like Gascon, it is time to dial back on the snarky, insufferable attitude of liberal/leftist elitism and go for something more amenable. But I don't expect this to happen

I dunno, "someone like Trump" for the Republicans only feels like an inevitability in hindsight.

We still had guys saying that Republicans would never win another national election as of late 2024, and now here we are. Whatever anybody imagines is going to happen is probably not what is going to happen.

What I want to happen is for them to fracture into different parties of Democrat interest. Workers, SJW's, and Environmentalist types. The Right should do the same and have a populist MAGAesque party differentiated from a Boomer RINO/warhawk party. I just want the boomer tinged filth of the right wing gone. No more weapons and oil companies having sway with the GOP. Seeing the true vision of the Founders as a multi party system would be great. I believe it would encourage the average person to better identify with and engage in their party of choice.

What will happen is they will run Celebrities that grab the new Zoomer and later Alpha vote. Mr. Beast and shit. It sounds idiotic but Trump has opened the door for non politicians to run and have a chance at winning the Presidency. Kids do not care. Most young zoomers probably voted for Trump becuase of name recognition and him being on Adin Ross. The ability to get the attention of Zoomers and Gen A is something marketing excels at, and as such they will pick cool celebrities to run. The Left is in a Charisma Crisis and need to pull dirty tricks to be cool and appealing again.

Literally all the have to do is distance themselves from - and more importantly, explicitly denounce - woke extremism and they'll never lose an election again. Apologize for anti white racism, anti male sexism, demographic replacement, turning a blind eye to LGBT grooming, and all the other heinous anti-human shit that has defined their campaign for 20 years. A lot of very horrible people would have their lives ruined after such extreme admissions of guilt, but the party as a whole would hit 90%+ approval ratings and stay there for the next century.

Drop most of the culture bullshit and focus on their other shit, the good shit, I don't think the average sane person thinks that [Democratic politician]'s greatest accomplishment was passing the make more depressed men take pills and cut off their balls act, their best accomplishment was cover the country with high speed rail.

They have to jettison the 2020 Cultural Revolutionaries to make any progress. The issue with that is that all of those people are now the "party functionaries" who are running the field offices, operating the surrogate NGOs, staffing the offices, acting as aides for the actual politicians. They're thoroughly embedded within the political structure of the Party. You can see this when that one Congressman from Connecticut (?) said that he didn't agree with trannies in sports, and his entire staff resigned.
