When was the last time you've eaten something that didn't come from a box?

I was eating my lunch at work the other day and an older coworker I have never talked to sat across from me at the table. He glanced at the cooked food in my lunch bag, and said, "It sure is nice to see someone eat something that didn't come from a box"...

I didn't respond (because fuck that nigga), but I've been thinking about what he said. I'm not quite sure how to organize my thoughts about it because it was simply so uncalled for and thunkprovoking at the same time. The sheer audacity of the guy to be autistic about where someone else's food comes from when there are people, in the same neighborhood no less, who have nothing to eat at all... fuck.

Well anyway, when was the last time you've eaten something that didn't come from a box?

This morning I ate eggs taken from the chicken coop, threw some french beans from my allotment in the steam oven and ate it with some bread from the local bakery.
So like five hours ago
You're American, aren't you? Only Americans would make a cunty smug post like that. Congratulations. You ate a meal that wasn't shat out of a machine, doused in processed cheese then wrapped in plastic.

Had bacon yesterday. Fuck I really love pork.
You do realise, don't you, that's cannibalism, huwhite male?

Actually I'm european. The vast majority of my meals are homemade with high quality ingredients.

I cook every night and have leftovers for lunch spread throughout the week. Friday's are Pizza day and that's the only day I don't eat something I made.

It takes more time to figure out WHAT you want to eat than to make it yourself. Until the food stores dry up eat as much fresh stuff as you can and at the same time learn to grow a garden for fresh herbs and veggies.

I’m trying to make the majority of my meals homemade but with cheap-quality ingredients (on the grad-student/depression cooking grind yo). Actually making a South Carolina-ish family redneck-y baked chicken (that tastes better than most fried chicken imo) right now. No box, but uses some dirt cheap non-perishable ingredients (raw chicken is the most expensive part).

What's wrong with boxes? That's how the rural village people get their goods from the all mighty truck drivers.
I have no idea. Some boxed food is good, like those Jimmy Dean breakfast bowl things, Annie's organic foods, and soup stocks.

I'm starting to wonder if my coworker is a bugman who doesn't do any prepping and in the case of supply issues or disaster, he is fucked. The kind of people who only store food for up to a week because they rely on supermarkets so much.
