I wanted to make this thread because it's a bit of a spin-off from the Dick Show thread, where some have given reviews on it.
Originally, the podcast were two people from Rochester, NY, Kevin and Karl, started in early 2016. The original episodes were pretty good from a quality/host chemistry standpoint, with Kevin's impressions and Karl providing the snarky co-host role, even if the audio wasn't good. They had professed they had grown up with "shock jock" radio hosts like Howard Stern and Opie & Anthony, with their podcast specifically a clone of "Jocktober" where the titular duo would trash some local DJ-hosted morning show.
In mid-2017, Kevin left and Karl re-tooled the show to just be himself and co-hosted by one of his friends, "Crosier", "Andy", or Vinnie Paulino, who works at Rochester's "Comedy at the Carlson". In early 2018, an episode actually was removed (Episode 88 ) when the host of a true crime podcast ("The Vanished"), Marissa Jones and her insane Twitter followers tried to get Karl cancelled.
Not too long after that, Karl covered a podcast called Opie Radio. Opie Radio was the project of Gregg "Opie" Hughes, a low-budget podcast where the ex-O&A host (Opie & Anthony had been off the air since the two had been fired by Sirius XM for different reasons) chatted with his friends at a bar in New York. Karl became obsessed with Opie, and eventually that got noticed by Anthony, who invited Karl on his show (behind a paywall) to yuck it up, and the podcast zoomed in popularity.
Eventually, the podcast got to such a bloated mess that was once a tight 45 minutes or less now became a 2+ hour long spectacle. The bloat is from several factors: an overly long opening sequence, advertising (Karl currently shills for ball-shaving company Manscape, MyBookie, and some coffee company), voicemails, getting some ugly thots to read reviews (the last two thankfully are after the credits), and segments devoted to Karl's pet lolcows. Besides Opie, the two mains are Patrick Michael and Stuttering John.
Patrick Michael is an unemployed stay-at-home dad living in a trailer park while his kids cry in the background of his podcast. His girlfriend/wife works at a nursing home while he sits at home all day. He's 30, has literally dozens of podcasts where he talks to himself, and is probably retarded on some level, sometimes stopping himself in the middle of his sentences to realize he's not making any points. Many people have speculated on his psyche, he never seemed to really grow up psychologically since 2005, and still has those stupid gauges in his ears.
"Stuttering John" Melendez is an ex-Howard Stern staffer that later got a six-figure gig on The Tonight Show, and runs a political podcast out of his crappy apartment in L.A., where he invites far-left guests to speak but mostly sleeps through it while he gets excited for superchats. He gets covered because he got butthurt because Karl reviewed his podcast negatively and can't get over it. (By the way, the money's all gone, he's a broke alcoholic).
His connection with The Dick Show comes when he reviewed the podcast. Dick has co-hosted the podcast a few times but currently puts all the Dick Show podcasts on Patreon.
He's gotten involved with more of the Dick Show characters, like getting CrippledJesus on the podcast a few times, and even co-hosted with Digibro twice, though Digi has been trashed as a co-host and it's been a while since he did anything (the most recent time was just after he became "Diginee" and unlike Dick, doesn't humor with calling him Trixie the Golden Witch or whatever now). It's been theorized that Karl and Digi broke ties but no confirmation.
Other co-hosts have been Royce & Mersh from ROTC, Doug from Who's Right, Kaya from The Official Podcast, "Jen from the Jingles Department" (Karl's wife, though this has never been officially confirmed...or denied), and other podcasters Karl has crossed paths with over the years (but never Anthony).
