Who is Bejeesus?

I'm making booze and the totally reliable internet tutorial told me to shake the Bejeesus out of the jug for the first few days. Who is Bejeesus, and how does he keep getting into my mead after I shake him out?

Bejeesus is actually the name of a very troublesome spirit from scandanavian folklore who taints alcoholic substances. Known better as 'vjeesusr' in the old germanic tongue, he was thought to steal his way into bottles or large tubs before spoiling it. You had to vigorously shake the container while demanding he leave lest he ruin your fermentation process.

Little known fact, Dora the Explorer uses this myth for the character 'Swiper'.
