If there were no police around and that would mean no law enforcement and no laws, right? So, you just settle them yourself. If you have no cops, you kind of have no other choice. You can't get arrested because no cops.

If there is no one to enforce the laws, then they don't really exist because who is going to enforce them?

the gangs/cliques/factions that arise from this environment quickly create their own rules, and proto-police to enforce these rules, so eventually you're back to having police again.

A few months ago some weird shirtless guy got into our house at the crack of dawn. I called the police and they were here right away. The guy was unarmed and claimed he was being chased by a guy with a gun. He was knocking on doors in the neighborhood and other neighbors had called the police as well. We found that out the next day. Thank God the police actually came. Just in case he was dangerous. I'd rather deal with a few asshole cops running around then dismantle it all and get murdered in my bed because there was no organized police force to take my frantic 911 call.
