At least in my country, Brazil, I can think of three reasons.
1. Theatre is dogshit, no one wants to watch it because it's non-stop propaganda. Since it cannot sustain itself on it's own, the government has to pay for it (and yes, 100% of the costs are paid for by taxes). That only happens when the government is far left, so they have to make propaganda to keep the status quo, and the status quo only pays for propaganda plays.
2. They have a messianic complex where they seem to think of themselves as more important than lawyers and engineers. They despise the common person for being ignorant (non-leftist) and use their power to influence the masses and feel they did some good by helping the Right Side of History TM.
3. The government straight up pays them. For example, it came out by a famous one that she and her peers got offered a million and a half reais ($2 american) to support the current leftist party (she did so after they turned on her).

For most of them it's probably just a matter of going along with their peers, and signaling their virtue to each other and the masses. But the root of it can likely be traced to Bertrand de Jouvenel's "High+Low vs. Middle" dynamic.

This phenomenon occurs when the ruling class (who are always aligned with the government & institutions, since that's where they get their status and power) identify the independent middle class as a threat (since they don't make a living from government or elite institutions), and seek to weaponize the lower/dependent classes against them.

I think these actor types getting into the hard left, is that the hard left is a luxury belief. Much like how fancy wine culture is a luxury hobby, most common people just don't bother with it. The actors have the money and the time to waste thinking and trying to promote hard left beliefs. You can see this if you ever look into these antifa rallies and most of their organizers and leaders come from a wealthy background. The common person just doesn't care, they would: rather spend their time better, just doesn't have the time, or is too busy doing meaningful things in their lives to notice. Having a leftist media monopoly is nearly universal, so it's hard to put it at something country specific like education or government.

I think the issue is that the type of person to work in this kind of industry is inherently a type of person that will swing to the left - children of upper-middle income households who can work this work either due to nepotism or daddy funding their education, the type of people who throughout their lives either pay no taxes or make so much money that they don't mind them. Those people are what modern left is built for and the less wealthy love the idea of government money to goon all day.

It didn't used to be. Hollywood was about 50/50 depending on the time period and in my nation's history actors weren't that terrible in the pre WW1 period.
I think the problem is Communism and what I will term the Rot.
Education is easily subverted by Communism as it's dependent on middle men. This can't really be truly eliminated. Consistent purges and a religious backbone can hinder the spread of Communism but it's flare up is inevitable at least till it's experienced once.
Because education is subverted it spread to similar middling strata of the nation.
Acting is dependent on an interconnected group of middle men. You spend maybe decades trying to make it big, you fail and now you are one of the middle men. Since communists are miserable people they will guaranteed fail and become the middle men. They will then push out non communists and promote fellow travelers. And since theater and movie making are tied at the hip with education that subversion is quick and complete. The would be right wing actors get weeded out in their education. Those who do not are brainwashed or brow beat into complying. They get purity tested twice.

The rot is more of me explaining why people go along with the Commies. The normal man will see benefits for getting along with the commies. Those benefits are often selfish but if there would be no benefits there would be no commies.
Say your kid is not that smart. But you are from a "worker's" back ground. So the communist teacher will give your kid more resources. As such you are gonna support that teacher, since they support your kid. They will get a grade above what they deserve. They can use that grade to get a position above their station but do to the lack of ability that position will likely be a middle man position where he in turn will get to support the proletariat one way or another. And it doesn't have to be something as drastic as the above example. The leverage Commies use to take hold is complacency and convenience. It's convenient to nod when the commie says something stupid. It's complacency to not fight them when they do something unjust that doesn't affect you or would risk more in fighting it than you would lose accepting it.

Media isn't hard-left at all, it's almost always extremely cosmopolitian pro-Establishment Neoliberal shitlib. During 2016, celebrities were literally getting blacklisted across Hollywood for being pro-Bernie/Anti-Hillary. UK media is almost always Tory-Lite and is a network of Old Boy Gentleman club families/Eton connections of old right wing elite families. It is near impossible to break into UK media/acting etc as an outsider of elite right wing Tory networks.

If you think the media is disingenious on Trump, the reporting of Corbyn and the Labour Party left at the time makes media Trump reporting look scientific.

The reason media tends to be filled with effete liberals is because they tend to live very cosmopolitian, bourgious lives and they hang around super hyper liberal art-hoe scenes that are all about fake boundary pushing with the most eye rolling stuff, because god forbid anyone actually pushes boundaries that actually effect them. So elite insufferability comes largely from "pushing boundaries" but in a totally ineffective way that just lets you act superior to all the uncultured plebs. You also have to remember that there is tonnes of youth cultural cringe around classist/psychotic capitalist attitudes of the elite and young elite people don't want to be seen as a evil schizo Republican/Tory reactionary among their peers. So they play heavily into grifting NGOs and socially progressive Idpol, to create a layer that "I'm not like those finance bro/tech bro elites!" while still happily taking cash handouts from their Republican senator dad and eventually getting a internship at the RNC.
