Why did a majority of thunderdomers private their profiles?

It actually was a majority of Thunderdomers (more than three)? I thought it was just a BP thing.
Thunderdomers are probably the most thin skinned faggots on the site. They cry about stickers. They cry when someone has a different opinion or voted for a different politician than them of course they cry when people leave mean posts on their profile.

Because Null removed the feature a few years ago when a poster privated their profile, leading to A+N screeching like autists about why said poster had a private profile.
It received so many negative reports and generate so much conversation in the secret forum that Null had no choice but to remove the feature.

Can you imagine a time when farmers were so thin skinned and autistic that they cried to the owner because ONE poster had a private profile. Pathetic.

And you know this how, mr. 2023 joindate?

I must confess, I am not a thunderdomer, but I wanted to weigh in on this subject without shitting up the more official thread that I first learned about it in.

I set my profile up as locked down at first out of sheer habit, not wanting a ton of distracting notifications etc. I have no qualms manually searching threads and following them in my head. If I can't be assed to remember it, then was it really that important? I lurked this way for years without any issues, especially given the search function works for lurkers.

Then upon further thought I reasoned that leaving it set that way was a perhaps good idea in this particular environment, since I certainly don't want to get flashbanged with shock images or pulled into any weird ERP DM chains, even if those are hilarious to read about later.

After that I noticed people posting on my profile anyway, and figured I was either being a retard during my initial setup, or the feature was broken or not open to me as a new arrival, and thought no more of it.

A bit later I discovered the feature actually just happened to be recently reimplemented and.... eh? 🤷‍♂️ I may set it to members only later as a finer balance of privacy and good natured fun like I saw someone suggest in another thread discussing this overall topic.

I kind of want to suggest they toggle it on and off randomly, just for maximum chaos, really trigger the paranoia.

I wouldn't ever pay money to a website, I think it's laughable that people do. Even worse just to get access to some secret forum.

The only reason I know the secret, or not so secret, forum exists is because someone blabbed about it in one of the deep thunk/happenings threads.

Personally, I find the whole thing laughable and pathetic. Not as laughable and pathetic as you trying to tarnish me as a, what, banned member? a sock? trying to suck up to the mods and null? Yeah, that's pretty sad mush. Maybe touch more grass.

You do right keeping it locked down.

I tried joining a gaming forum and while my registration was being verified I locked out all visible info on the profile and set it to private. The mods denied my request to join as "we find it suss that the first thing you did was lock down your profile". I won't attempt to join up to that forum again and as far as i'm concerned, they're all nonces.

Bullet dodged.
