Why did amber do it?

my take is that she was disappointed with her acting career, she didn't get the recognition and respect she feels she deserves.
i think that creating this big public spectacle, with herself in the role of a tragic abuse victim that turns into the heroic champion of feminism and wins a big victory for womankind, was intended to bring her all the admiration and adoration she craves so much.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

People do all kinds of terribly vindictive shit when they are struggling with the kind of anger and resentment that comes from spoiled love. Dudes kill bitches at an alarming rate when they feel wronged or betrayed. The usual female equivalent go-nuts revenge is to try to destroy the partner's life by rallying social forces, instead of attacking directly/physically.

It's either that or go the "wanton property destruction" route. Cars smashed up, guitars thrown from second-story windows, shit like that.

Because she's a spoiled woman who, based on the world we live in and her level of attractiveness, was genuinely convinced that she can do to Johnny whatever she wants and get away with it.
There is a recording where she basically dares him to make this public and laughs at him that nobody will believe him.
She did it because she thought she could.
