@OP, a combination of the fact that our national culture is built on a history of braving adversity and uncertainty to explore new frontiers, stake your claim and build something from nothing; and the fact that our nation is the size of your continent yet all of it speaks the same language and uses the same currency and you can travel freely between the disparate places it comprises, and it's designed in such a way that those different places have different laws, so if you don't like the way things are being run where you are you can pack up and move to somewhere that allows you to live as you see fit instead of bending over and getting fucked in the ass like a European.
