Why do people like Sam Hyde? - oh boy here I go being a contrarian again

I still find fishtank fascinating. imagine if you will, you have the creatives dream of having an audience to call for money, make a show where you can lock a black man in a cage and use TTS to call people Nigger, you have unlimited creative ability. How badly can one fuck it up or make a pretty good show, the answer, wiggers.

His usual contents grating though. My favorite is him telling his audience of 20 year olds who like to say nigger and be edgy to max out credit cards and live in extreme debt. He would also later backtrack this and say “ha lolz it’s just a prank bro, who would be retarded to listen to comedy mans advice lol”.

TL;DR He does have some memorable quotes and skits but over all post Hollywood and his tough guy routine has completely ruin his comedy but you still get mild tid bits that can still be really worth it like the Idubbz doc and a couple others already mentioned.

I really couldn't find season two as engaging despite having better audio, less technical issues, and more Sam.

Yeah they really dropped the ball. I think there were a couple of factors personally.

1 the focus on theatrics instead of just letting shit happen. Also to add to that wiggers messing with the casts

2 the food situation was god awful.

3 eliminating a lot of the best contestants instantly.

It really moved away from being the weird Internet oddity that was new to being really forced unfortunately but I do hope season 3 is better :optimistic:

Shit like this is why it's irritating that he won't just come out and admit he's a trust fund kid. It borderlines on irresponsible that he advocates that behavior for someone that can't get a bailout from daddy. Rich people taking on debts and poor people taking on debts is not the same thing at all.

As to the original question, a few reasons on no particular order.

1. The whole guerilla comedy of shit like Paradigm Shift 2070 or that bronycon he crashed that one time adds a certain novelty. Most comedians now are just too navel-gazey, soy-fed and docile to do crazy shit like that, even though I'll bet half of them claim Andy Kaufman as influences.

2. One of the first victims of cancel culture with his show on [adult swim]. It helped that it was early, and the reasons were obviously fallacious. He got a lot of his cult hero status from this I think.

3. One of the few people online that doles out life advice worth a shit. Manages to be realistic about women while not going total blackpill Andrew Tate about it. To a generation raised on "firm handshake son!" and "you just gotta find a girl somewhere", even the most basic of life advice can feel like a godsend.

4. Incredibly memetic and quotable. Early and often. Wish it want it do it. WE'RE JUST GONNA KILL EM.
