Why do rioters not bring shields like the police?

The police usually have these big plexiglass shields that they use to kettle rioters and protestors. Why don't rioters have these shield too? They would prevent the police from advancing on the rioter or pepper spraying the rioter. There are also collapsible bullet shields that are being developed. It's not like they have a rule that only law enforcement is allowed to by tasers and mace. So why are rioters not stocking up on gear like the police? I mean it's like they don't even take what their doing seriously.

Shields are useless without training, the police anti-riot team trains to use them and on how to handle a crowd. Though yes you can use a shield to avoid getting pepper sprayed and the like. But without training and teamwork a shield is from a larger view useless. Most riots behave like a herd of people rather than a team with a goal.

They do though. They either use the tops to the blue storage bins, or they use other stuff like these examples:

I mean they usually jury rig shields from stuff that isn't likely to immediately get the fuzz' attention like barrels and trashcans. Not particularly common for somebody to just have a ton of suitable-grade plexiglass lying around in their garage.

It's effective provided they stay in formation. Considering rioters are mostly armed with bottles, rocks, bricks, and molotovs, it's really not too dissimilar from what the Legions went up against, just in a more contemporary setting.

If they start lobbing IEDs, well, hopefully it'll just bounce off the covering shields.

They actually do use shields, though. Antifa in particular favor taking the sides of cut-up HDPE drums and reinforcing them so they don't bend, which is a rather clever and sturdy design for a shield. Pretty much the only idea of theirs that I wouldn't be ashamed to steal for myself.

As much as I hate the wokies, Antifa and Washington State might be the start of the disillusionment of the United States.

What's even more scary is that if this kind of sectarian violence is to become common place owning a firearm is going to become your only way to protect yourself, family, and property. Scary because Negro Joe Biden is taring to pack the Supreme Court with Paedo Pelosi to squash the 2nd amendment.
