Why do some people try to befriend lolcows?

Not in the "I want to infiltrate into their lives" type of way, but actually seeking to have a bond with these people who have the most questionable mental health.

I just don't get it, you're giving up your time for someone who is either a narcissist, a no future internet addict, an attention whore with lack of self awareness, or all of the above. What's the big pay off? The big plan? Feeling a little better you're recognized by a big loser?

Someone please enlighten me

maybe its the same as a famous person and their fans. you want to be close to them as a friend and they keep being unavailable. a lolcow isnt really that famous.

Some people can only learn by touching the stove

They feel that they can use that particular Lolcow, usually, it's rarely about pity/empathy.

I'm aware of a story that some male feeder tried to befriend one of the 'Gorls' (might have been ALR) so that she'd like him and show him her tits/fanny/arse.

He was only in it for his 'gain'.

A similar thing happened to an under the radar lolcow called Emma Wilkinson - a feeder proposed to her but as she has a multitude of mental health issues (some real, some not) he got annoyed that she wouldn't do as he wanted and filmed himself crying as a result.

Usually befriendment of these people is not for good reasons and it reminds me of a story I posted in one of my own threads recently.

They're perverts.

It can be for the lolcow physically themselves, the attention the cow generates either negative or positive, or sometimes money, drugs. It doesn't have to be much it just has to be a steady supply. It could be a drip they don't care it's insane when you observe it.

Some people like to be used by the cow as some replacement for the abuse they once felt and they're lonely in a masochistic kind of way. Reverse the same talking point for sadistic needs.

But because it's obsessive it's perverted in my opinion and will just degrade them both.

Sometimes they want to fuck the lolcow. So they pretend to be friendly and interested in what they are talking about just to get in the cow's pants. We used to get this often in the Zoey thread, and it still sometimes happens. We literally have a "no thirstposting" thing in our OP because of it and is one of the main ways people get threadbanned in her thread.
Stop thirstposting. Nobody cares that you want to have sex with a mentally ill woman.
Heck, there are some posts on her profile like this too (yes, she has an account here) where they are pretty blatantly pretending to care about her interests to get with her. It's quite funny.

Misplaced empathy.
Sometimes after watching someone getting put through the ringer day in and day out, you start to sympathize with them. Or after watching said person for X amount of years you accidentally form a parasocial relationship with them.
I could easily see people thinking "I could fix him/her" unironically "if they were just to listen to my advice." Completely forgetting the fact that the reason people become lolcows is because they have refused to listen to any good advice given to them in their entire lives.

One of those guys succeeded with Elaine. Which is very unsettling to think about.

Four Reasons:

1) To white-knight them.

2) To befriend them and get into more of an understanding about them (secretly gathering ammo when they're under no influence of trolls or KiwiFarms)

3) To make yourself feel better when you're side-by-side with them.

4) Self-serving agenda with no ties to anything trolling or anything KiwiFarms-related.

Lots of reasons. I think a big one is for attention or popularity. Inserting yourself into some micro-celebrity's death spiral is a damn good way to get attention. Ala weens or late-year Chris Chan trolls. Even if you don't make it big, you'll still be a topic of discussion in the Kiwifarms thread or on the Reddit that week.

I’ve been burnt by thinking it was an act and they were doing it for the lulz. Maybe I’m just projecting, i don’t know about you but *im* just PRETENDING to be retarded (tm). 😇

And then after you talk to them you go oh.. oh.. god..y y y you’re fucking serious……. (example, Joe Winko goes in his own thread and actually genuinely is a mentally ill mongoloid I mistook for doing comedy at first.)

Some people have serious problems and feel less alone watching someone get through things they’re ashamed to say about themselves. Iykyk.
