Why does anime always get caught in the middle? - no matter who wins, anime loses

It's just something I noticed lately.

Like seriously, when writing my title for this topic the "is this topic already being discussed?" thing suggested topics with titles like "why SJWs like anime" and "why Fascists like anime: a Thesis." Depending on your politics, anime is either the wellspring for patriarchal misogynistic thought or else it actually causes people to troon out.

It seems like no matter what side of the political spectrum you're on, anime gets to be the bad guy. Anime is like counter-Earth Wolverine--instead of being so popular that every team wants to claim him, he's so hated that everyone assumes he's working for somebody else.

'Cause anime itself is largely split amongst 2 genres:

"moe" - Which is basically a bunch of girls doing fuck all the whole time and troons go "yah so funny, she's just like me fr fr". This stuff is prime troon fantasy, and they flock to it. Stuff like Bocchi and K-on and others akin.
"action" - Which usually includes battle anime, sports anime, or even mystery anime. This is the normal stuff that normal guys usually like. See: Every other shounen and isekai.

So since hating anime is a lazy en vogue way of attacking others online, each group of fans gets grouped up with the other whenever it is convenient to do so.

Autistics like bright colours and recognisable designs, something common in anime. They also find it easier to recognise emotions and responses from cartoons.

Autistics, the diagnosed and the plain stupid, also tend to be very overly represented among Brown Shirt LARPers and People of Gender.

Only autists support the most extreme fringe positions, and they also watch anime.

It's an artform that neither side of American politics can control or subvert, largely because it has to please its domestic audience first. The Left can't subvert it because translation errors get called out immediately and they can't make their own because it just looks like CalArts style. The Religious Right can't control it because they want their brand of Christian propaganda to reign supreme and don't know how to create art in the first place. It's also foreign, which they also don't like.

Anime is just not political and should stay that way as a form of entertainment.

Not to mention Japan's - and by extention anime's - opinion of Christianity. (less than positive to say the least)

The Japanese consider it foreign and overbearing. Which I can understand because it is insistent in the way a jealous, insecure girlfriend is insistent. If my faith is true, they shouldn't be worried about me straying, especially since the differences between Christian sects are very minor compared to other religions. And yes, Islam is worse in the way a jealous, insecure boyfriend is violent. Neither are good when there are other religions that don't have those proselytizing hang-ups.

And historically speaking, I can see why the Shogunate would consider Catholicism foreign interference when it has a head of state that states the word of God.

I think part of the issue is that most people's exposure to anime fans is that of the worst weeb trash they can think of. It's hard to give something a chance when its fans are loud and proud on X about being degenerates. It becomes easy to write off the entire medium due to the actions of a few major retards.

Minor PL, but my friend group was tough after high school because everyone "grew out of" anime at the end of high school, and then turned on it hard as they got further and further down leftist political pipelines in university. Solely defining yourself by being a fan of something is something empty undeveloped people do, and that ain't me, but being associated with the worst dregs and worst shows and having my suggestions be written off as "too animu" felt rather childish. And then these same people would be suggesting stuff like Adventure Time (which I liked), with zero self-awareness. And hell, I prejudge the weeb by his stripes, too. I compartmentalized my interest in anime as to not alienate people I knew, and to prevent me meeting the ones I don't want to.

There's also the cultural barrier aspect to it: weird foreign thing looks foreign, and does not appeal to the American pop culture zeitgeist. Most Westerners are disgusted by cute things, and Japan's kawaiisa culture is one big ick to them. The furthest they'll go is something like Hello Kitty which has managed to penetrate the Western sphere due to being a marketing giant. But everything else is poison to a Westerner - if they don't see themselves reflected in it, it's unappealing. If it shows foreign cultural stuff, it's also unappealing.

People choose interesting things to be real cunts about, all the same

Edit: word change

Alongside all these other points, snobs hate Anime because it's unabashedly targeted to the wider population and its general aesthetic has (for better or worse) overrun the popular conscious. Animation as an artform was pioneered by the US and Japan with Disney being the precursor to both. While animation became largely synonymous with cheap children's and family entertainment in America, Japanese animators were able to represent themselves as ultimately being valid for adults to enjoy en masse, even if it's somewhat kitschy in ways.
This distinction in many ways would prove to be a massive boon for anime because Art has been increasingly defined by the use of moving pictures and as a result, anime became dominant over what many in the West would consider respectable.

A non-negligible amount of anime is created by pedophiles, and one of the most popular anime right now is Made in Abyss which was made by a huge degenerate pedophile and has shitloads of other pedophiles flocking to it calling it a masterpiece. Lolicon is by far the biggest reason anybody has to hate anime and I'm surprised nobody here has said it yet.

People are fucking retarded and don't understand anime/manga is just another form of media. Just like books, music, film, and television you can find every type of genre and stuff made for every demographic. It's foreign and people are fucking retarded and refuse to engange with things they don't understand so they will label it as the first thing they associate it with.
Might as well say films are racist because of Song of the South or they are all gay propaganda because Brokeback Mountain exists.

I tried watching anime when i was 16 and it was nothing but waifu bait with the shittiest story imaginable and main character as sad as a wet paper towel in the floor of a gas station bathroom.
So my only only guess that anime was always mainly targeting coomers. Is there outliers? sure. Is that the most popular shit? Fuck no.
so if anyone says to me IRL that they watch anime or i see anime themed shit on them i cant help but cringe.
P.S. id like to thank creators of the evangelion for doing such a terrible job. your complete incompetence birthed my hatred for chinky porn-cartoons that is still burning bright for almost 15 years now.
Oh and also imagining 40 year old japanese nerd drawing schoolgirls makes my skin crawl.
