2/6 of the current Community Feature Submissions are actually related to online public figures, and the rest are basically headlines for normie news articles you would find in Peoples magazine. There are so many good submissions that are actually related to online culture that get made almost everyday, and it breaks my heart seeing them get ignored in exchange for shit that you would see on the front page of every other social media site. Please stop this trend and make the Community Feature Submissions more related to online happenings I am begging you.

I am generally the only person who features stuff, but any mod with a mod banner has the ability to. There's also a staff thread for asking for permission to feature stuff if mods are unsure. I do not feature anything that I am not relatively informed on so a lot of niche shit I just overlook. Most mods don't feature stuff because I'm very particular about wording and always write lines in a very specific way.

"[Subject] [allegedly] [noteworthy event], [optional context]."

Mods generally don't write like I do, I will rewrite bad feature lines, and I think that deters them.

Also, the front page is generally gondor's beacon for the worst users on the entire site to shit up the thread, so mods will also sometimes not feature very interesting stuff in our highest quality threads for that reason.

That might be true, but if you know the online happenings exist from reading the community features thread, then what are the philosophical underpinnings of your desire to see them placed at the top in the community features section?

Have you considered that perhaps the real redditor was in the mirror all along? Because you are preoccupied with whatever appears on the front page? The point's not invalid, I'm just saying that the idea of being bothered because the things I already know are happening aren't specifically placed on the KF home page never occurred to me.

As soon as something is featured, I think of something clever and hope nobody has already said it before me

I look in the featured thread

Every thread tourist doesn't need to shit up a featured thread. It's not a requirement for having an account. You can just read a featured thread, laugh, and then go back to the threads you normally post in.

If you were a real K-Farmer you would be able to find interesting stuff without using the featured section. The featured section is an idiot filter.

Features have introduced me to a lot of different lolcows I wouldn't have otherwise paid any attention to. I rarely post in featured threads and I don't even always end up following a thread after but it's nice to read some op's I otherwise probably wouldn't have.

I would say its better to follow the community happenings thread then. Featured posts are only usually about super major events or prominent lolcows to begin with so the range will generally be quite limited.

Can someone give me a clear definition of "shit up a thread"? Does that mean disagreeing with the popular opinion, or what? I see this posted all the time, but nobody seems to have properly defined it.

"If the poster has a pink triangle, they're probably shitting up the thread," is a good place to start.

Usually joining something like the Foodie Beauty or Russel Greer thread and starting to post about Israel, Zionism, George Soros or typical /pol/ shit and then other shit like "I don't care" followed by posting unfunny pictures without thumbnailing them.
