Because the politicians give the tax money away to their donors' and friends' businesses so there's very little money left over to fully fund things that would actually help the taxpayers.

People who ride the bus aren't going to stop donating to their campaign fund or bad talk them in their social circles. So, they don't give a fuck if they screw you over.

I had to take the bus to work for a few weeks because of car troubles and there was a 50 y/o tranny thingy talking to himself about how they were falsely accused and the cops were cocksuckers and they concealed carry everywhere they go and on and on and on. I knew better than to make eye contact but some other poor soul didn't and he got stuck humoring the trans-thing

Lesson learned: Public transportation is gay. You have to pay to get to your destination more slowly and late, and get harassed by smelly homeless people and insane trannies at the same time

ProTip: Always wear sunglasses with a flash mirror at minimum when taking any public transport. This allows you to look like you are staring out a window or at the floor when you are able to look anywhere without anyone being able to tell where you are looking.

A hundred fucking years and the poor people who ride the bus and vote Democrat still haven't figured out why Dems haven't done shit to fix poverty.
