Hey,

I'm writing today to shill you guys this mobile game of one of my favorite franchises. For those of you who don't know, SMT was originally a line of Nintendo (and Sony) games centered around conversing with and recruiting demons to join your cause, a system which should sound very familiar if you have ever played Persona 5, given that it's a spin off of SMT. If this starts ringing Pokemon bells to you, you would be absolutely correct in thinking so because SMT served as something of an inspiration Pokemon. The primary difference—at least in this part of the series—is that the "mons" you collect are actually mythological beings from real cultures. These icons can range from Thor to Shiva to Alice from Alice in Wonderland or a straight up dick.

Most popular demon in the series btw

However, the game and series as a whole manages to distinguish itself in one major way: demon fusion. Whereas most gacha games would lock any good demons behind a paywall or premium currency, Dx2 offers the option to fuse demons together in order to make a stronger demon. This can be done for a variety of reasons, whether it be to create fodder for an even better demon or to get a skill that can be transferred to another member of your party. Factoring mechanics like color and multi-fusions in, it's a complex system that requires a lot of experience to master.

The most interesting part of this game to me is the press turn system. Essentially, demons have their own set of elemental skills and weaknesses for you to exploit in battle. Should you manage to attack one of their weaknesses, you only lose half a turn and are allowed to act again using that half turn. While it seems like a simple change on the surface, in practice it makes for one of the most engaging turn based battle systems out there. You constantly have to decide whether to attempt striking a weakness, pass a turn onto another ally, or focus on the scenario at hand by using either a buff, debuff, or heal. The fact that the game is a graphical marvel that mainline series games would envy is the icing on the cake.

That's about it. If I convinced you to give the game a shot, leave a post here, show off your rolls, and discuss any thoughts you have on the game. I would genuinely like a community that I can play and discuss this underrated game with. Thanks for reading, here's some music for your troubles:
