Will people ever realise “non binary” is a trend or is it here to stay?

It’s been nearly a decade since I first encountered the concept, many “enbies” still cling to their labels and pronouns & it’s gotten quite a bit of mainstream exposure through celebrities such as Demi Lovato. Once a public figure “comes out” and announces new pronouns the wiki page for that person immediately gets edited, the pronouns changed. “Gender is a spectrum” is being taught in schools. People can choose to be neither male nor female on their ID and in some places a NB identity is even a protected class. So is this really just a trend, will it fade away and be laughed at in years to come as a thing of the past, or are we well and truly stuck with NB ideology?

People choosing to express themselves in ways outside the conventions of their gender has been around forever. Tomboys, men with girlish hobbies; it all dates back deep into history.

What’s new is everyone insisting that we make such a big fucking deal about it. That part is a symptom of an excessively self-absorbed society. Rather than letting other people draw their own conclusions and being happy with themselves internally, genderspecials feel the need to impose rigid rules of engagement as a means of generating status.

Also it’s no coincidence that nonbinaries follow the same set of fucking trends in terms of appearance and behavior. There’s theoretically an infinite space of expression between the two poles of “male” and “female”...
If they haven't got their special tags then they've got nothing so they'll do everything they can to make it as legit as possible. With the way everybody wants to appease the very very small minority to avoid some Twitter backlash- I imagine it is probably here to stay at least for a while.

It'll die. Why? Because it's rooted in ideology, brought about by long-established, deep-rooted comfortable living.

Explain the concept of 'non-binary' to anyone outside of a cushy first-world country (or wealthy enclave elsewhere, where insanity isn't class-protected,) and they'll look at you like you're a raving lunatic - because that's precisely what you are.

There’s theoretically an infinite space of expression between the two poles of “male” and “female” yet curiously they all land somewhere in androgynous dweeb range. That’s more evidence it’s just a style -based subculture that wants to be treated like a protected class for no good reason other than they’re a bunch of whiny babies who have externalized their sense of self worth.

Mods, rockers, greasers, flappers, scene, and queer/enby are just subcultures, made distinct by outside markers and internal values. Yet only one of those threw (and is perpetually throwing) a tantrum when every level of society doesn’t validate them to the most extreme extent. Enbys (and most of the alphabet shit really) are what you get when a subculture can short circuit the social hierarchy by clinging like a remora to a civil rights legacy that, while important, has been blindly fetishized without being adequately tied to the deeper principles behind it.

Civil rights was a triumph of the concept of individual liberty and the idea that you could prosper regardless of who you are and what you look like. Modern LGBT etc. is a bastard version of that where a clique of people with a similar dress code and identical ideas seek to maximize their own personal liberty for the purpose of behaving like egomaniacal, deviant lunatics at the express expense of the rest of the world’s personal liberty to call them out for being assholish weirdos.

It’s purely an in-group, out-group dynamic where the in-group has dyed hair and the out-group deserves to lose their jobs, go to jail, and have their children starved all for just using the wrong words. The high-minded ideals they constantly invoke are as shallow as they are, and they will never, ever stick to them the second they apply to a member of the out-group. Most of the time the very concept doesn’t even fully compute in their brains.

Yes, because it's a big nothing burger. What does being non-binary even entail? Most men and women don't consciously think actively about their gender day to day. It's a way of identifying yourself as unique without changing very much about yourself. Similar to how some high schoolers call themselves romantic asexuals who still have sex. Theoretically anyone could identify as non binary and no one could really disprove their claim.

I believe most non-binaries are teenage to young-adult women simply struggling with their identity and femininity or are trying to fit in with others. AFAIK most don't end up taking hormones or transitioning, they'll grow out of it eventually. It's teens' job to be stupid, just hope they get bullied by somebody to help them snap out of it.

NB/genderfluid/agender are all nonsense. They are basically all the same thing and every person on the planet is a form of NB to varying degrees. It's also a sexist identity that enforces the stereotypes placed on men and women without fighting against them. At this point NB identities have become heavily politicized and are far leftist dogwhistles, so I do not know if or when they will become obsolete. Goth/Emo/Hipster never had the same insane political links these batshit genders now have, so there are some differences that effect the future of this crap dying out in the same way.

Non-binary is the same shit as the transtrender movement, it’s just a fad, but no one is gonna speak out for fear of being mobbed by zombies for daring to speak up. Non-binary is extra lazy compared to transgenderism since no effort has to be put into it, it’s the same as a boring woman saying they’re bisexual, so I have a feeling it’ll die out first

Yes, my concern is that because the NBs have the backing of the LGBTQIA+ lobby, it’s seen as more legit than past trends, and so it’s a lot easier to accuse people who criticise it as bigoted than making the same accusations against critics of subcultures like emo, hipsters, punk etc. which were never treated as anything more than kids/youth playing around. But NB instead gets treated like some innate thing you are, the same as sexuality, race etc., when it’s obvious to everyone it’s a choice, more like a religion. It’s no longer unacceptable to tell someone you don’t believe in their religion, so why should not believing in some mystical “gender identity” that can be anything, be any different? (It goes without saying that it’s a regressive concept and depends on stereotypes.)

Support for LGBTQ+ activism was at its peak around the supreme court gay marriage decision, stayed there for a few years, and has been fading as the perceived need for activism dwindled. The absolute state of trans people and how pushy they are will, I think, be the ultimate downfall of LGBTQ+ activism. Pushing for access to women only spaces was what woke a LOT of people up to how most of these trannies demanding bathroom access are just degenerates who get off on forcing others to participate in their fetish lifestyle. For every braindead leftist woman who dutifully added she/her to their Twitter bio there are an uncounted number who are creeped out by trannies and don't want to share their spaces with them. They aren't quite to the point of being able to vocalize their objections but the worm is starting to turn, and more and more women are getting fed up with this gay shit.

People are slowly waking up to the fact that LGBTQ+ activists are batshit insane. Twitter is a dumpster fire but it's also caused degenerates to let their guard down and be themselves in public; their hostile, disgusting, morally bankrupt, pedo-enabling, bullying and brigading selves. The NB thing is just an offshoot of the LGBTQ+ social group and as popular support for their "activism" wanes I think you'll see fewer new people hop on the trend. It won't go away completely, but in the next few years there will hopefully be fewer of them.

Also, youth counterculture is usually a rebellion against the perceived status quo, which played a huge role in the Tumblr generation hopping onto the non-binary band wagon as an act of youthful rebellion. Baby boomers embracing Caitlin Jenner on Fox News is the death knell for LGBTQ+ activism being considered counterculture. Non-binary gibberish becoming more socially accepted and widespread will paradoxically lead to its end as the newer generation will view it as being normie bullshit to rebel against. Someday, hopefully soon, a Twitter profile with a furry avatar and xie/xir in the bio will be as cringe inducing to the majority of younger people as our aunts' minion memes on Facebook are to us (assuming it isn't already).
