Will The Internet Improve During an Economic Collapse?

If a theoretical economic recession/depression occured in the next five years, would the userbase and thus quality of the content on The Web improve? I'd be harder for the vast majority of people to devote much time to surfing the web, causing web usage to become much more concentrated among severely autistic and talented individuals that legitimately need to use the web; just as god intended.

That's real fucking optimistic considering how economic collapses function. You lose everything. You. Not the OVH building, not the AWS building, but you.

We already saw how the internet changed during the last global recession / depression. It went from a bunch of borderline autists posting on forums (like this one) to every normie in the world using social media 24 hours a day. And, since social media is for faggots, and the internet was a slightly better place before every Boomer and their brother found their way online, the answer to your question is, "No."

It's the exact opposite. People cut back severely on luxuries and spend more time at home. Last time something like half of pubs/clubs closed.

I think the last recession is a big part of what made the internet/world worse. A generation grew up on Tumblr instead of partying and learning how the real world works.
