I gotta re-arrange my worm set-up. During Covid, I dug the whole thing out for potting soil to expand the garden and the chickens finished off the worms.
I had an open-to-the-air type set up, which was nice in that I barely had to water it or anything, and it was convenient for dumping dirty chicken bedding into, but not great for winter, when it'd stop working til it warmed up. I had a tarp over the top to keep the hens from digging into it and making it stink, just a tarp over the top. And no bottom.
I'd LIKE something that'd let me catch the run-off, since I've read that that is very good liquid fertilizer. Anybody have any ideas on how to set it up less rednecky than old system?
I've heard about people making their chicken coop floor be basically a big compost bin, where it just composts in place. Which sounds too good to be true...
