Would Making KF Reading Videos be Acceptable 🤔

So I’m a nobody that makes occasional lolcow content and this site reminds me much of the olden internet. Good times when you could call someone a faggot and not be censored or yeeted.
While asking for permission seems inherently cringe I’ve also noticed there’s an etiquette to how things work on KF so I’m being overly cautious, wouldn’t want to be rude, especially being new and all.
My main question is, which articles do you guys think would be the best received by other kiwis and what would be the best way to approach authors on if they want credit or to be not mentioned. Kinda nervous. 1st thread I’ve made on here.

Just do it? I don't know what other response you would expect from a question like this. There is nothing stopping you. Just don't be a faggot by censoring shit. You also NEVER have to worry about making a thread in Q&A of all places. It's the de facto shitposting corner of KF.

Thanks brother. Yeah I more or less was reassuring myself. New here so wasn’t sure what the rules were on it. Searched and didn’t find anything on it so figured I’d ask just to be sure

Joke aside, I'm certain what bothers people the most (if anything) is when someone clearly just reads a thread for a video but never ever mentions the farms or the thread, let alone link them as the source. The farms are always only mentioned when it's about being the internet boogieman, but never when people actually use it/benefit from it. It's not some supercritical plutonium or chant to summon cosmic horrors, so at least mention it ffs.

Agreed. I think credit is pretty important. And I’ve noticed that too. Only commenters I’ve seen go out of their way to thank the farms is toad McKinley and wanna say I’ve heard Rogue mention it but even then not individual accounts. Idk, I just wanna make good content, there’s so much brainrot and garbage online these days I feel I must do something lol

Yeah for sure, I always try to list sources but I suspect that some of these creators don’t want to mention it for fear of not being pushed by the algorithm, I’ve noticed kiwifarms isn’t a tag which is odd. Either way I’m aware that KF isn’t the internet boogeyman. It’s a pretty useful website and a place where censorship isn’t a problem, aka fucking tits. So I’ll be sure to credit any authors I read from, after I message to make sure they want to be mentioned I reckon 🤔

Devil's Advocate: Our reputation is sullied, and gives the cows a convenient excuse. "That's nawt troo, it's a lie from the transphobic gangstalker site!"

The cows and their behavior should be the substance of discussion, not the forum itself. The Farms serves as a repository for primary sources. I only take issue with us being used without credit in cases of blatant plagiarism, i.e. a youtuber reads an OP verbatim and claims it as their own.

Come to think of it, Keffals and LFJ would've probably faced some real consequences if more voices unaffiliated with KF had talked about their crimes.

We're in this for laughs, not internet clout or glory. We are but humble archivists and historians. We should bring light while working in the shadows.

I, for one, don't mind if normies join the laughter without ever knowing we exist. We don't claim a monopoly on making fun of stupid people. I also don't mind cowtubers like Turkey Tom or Smokey making videos that summarize a cow I'm too lazy to read about.

Very intriguing observation, and I agree that it’s about the laughs and not the clout(obviously I’m biased a bit trying to garner an audience) and I definitely understand the need to try and remain more or less hidden with the previous drama that’s occurred, I just haven’t seen this insanity everyone says is KFs fault, but if you google it it’s nothing but MSM trashing it.
Do you think they come after it because of the lack of censorship or is it that some cows(like keffals) are definitely entrenched with those MsM hacks, they certainly came out the woodwork for her writing many bs articles about her “stalkers”

my advice, some of which has already been given:
  • give credit to the farms.
  • if you make money then please throw some of it to null. just a pet peeve of mine, streamers who make money off of sites/services/free software, but dont contribute even a penny back need to get the rope.
  • try to add something to the video other than just reading the thread. the more transformative work you add to it the better.
follow that, and i personally dont see an issue, and im sure most kiwis could agree.

Oh if I ever see monetization I’d glad throw Null or KF in general some sheckles, and I agree it’s not a big ask to give back to those who helped you get where you are. Was definitely going to throw some memes and (hopefully) witty commentary with it. Appreciate everyone being so helpful 🙏
