You make a road trip somewhere. You end up taking a wrong turn which leaves you at an unknown part of town to God knows where.

If you're lost in the woods, you only have yourself and your instincts to backtrack yourself back to civilization. There's a chance you may have cellular service at a certain spot. Make a wrong turn, maybe you'll meet somebody that can help you or become protective of their property.

Now, in the GHETTO. You have plenty of streetlights up until you get into an alley or some spotty neighborhood. You call the police for help, who knows if they'll get there before you encounter a junkie, mugger, or random thug. At least you'll have cell phone service.

The woods is infinitely more dangerous and far easier to get lost in and die. The ghetto, for as bad as it is, can be extricated from relatively easily. With that cell phone service you can plot a course out of there and there are, at least in my closest city, pockets of reasonable neighborhoods and areas nearby. You can pretty much get to "safety" relatively quickly. In the woods, no such luck, and if you don't have any kind of navigational aids on you like a compass you're fucked and you're going to die.

I say this all assuming by "woods" you mean some kind of National Park forest.
