  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Speaking of replies, has anyone else noticed reply counts have been way off for a long time now? I'll view a tweet that allegedly has 50 replies, yet only 7 replies are visible. This happens frequently on both the mobile apps and desktop site. Those replies also can't all be from people who have locked their accounts. Has anyone else noticed this phenomena?

Musk posted this, dabbing on the UK justice system earlier today.

you can see Hidden replies by clicking the three dots by the post and clicking the one that says view hidden replies.

The replies haven't been hidden by the OP, though. It's like a bunch of replies are either being hidden by some sort of shadow-banning algorithm, or the reply numbers are being inflated by a bug. It's very strange.

That's aggravated me too, but it happens on all social media, not just X.

Chasing the trend, Rumble's CEO Chris Pavlovski has announced on Xitter that he has fled Europe to escape possible arrest similar to Telegram's CEO. https://archive.ph/XMKdL
I’m a little late to this, but for good reason — I’ve just safely departed from Europe. France has threatened Rumble, and now they have crossed a red line by arresting Telegram’s CEO, Pavel Durov, reportedly for not censoring speech. Rumble will not stand for this behavior and will use every legal means available to fight for freedom of expression, a universal human right. We are currently fighting in the courts of France, and we hope for Pavel Durov’s immediate release.

I think the French government is saying it's for "facilitating trafficking" in the Durov case.
Even in the US where freedom of speech is enshrined in the First Amendment, there's speech that's illegal. You can't shout "fire" in a crowded theatre and cause a stampede/crushing if there's no fire. You can't let people use your platform to traffic people or drugs. It'll be interesting to see if Rumble guy has something to be worried about or if he's being overdramatic

The Krassenstein Brothers (@Krassenstein and @Edkrassen) have allegedly sent a cease and desist to Xitter user Simon Goddek (@goddeketal) for defamation.

Goddek has posted receipts in recent days stating that the Krassenstein brothers operated a (questionable at best) teen porn site in the mid-2000s and solicited traffic information from underage-targeted sites.

He also posted legal documents stating that they were involved in a scam, which the brothers refute in a... telling way.

He also alleges that Ed used a homosexual dog whistle in his username, and assaulted a bouncer.

For reference, the Krassenstein brothers are notorious left-wing, Xitter dick riders who claim to be politically neutral, and use their "enlightened" political beliefs to shit-up everyone's timelines. So much so - I checked and the only people I have blocked on X are the two of them (which I did last year)

Let this post also serve as general solicitation of information on these happenings, and the Krassenstein brothers in general. Also, please DM if you would like to assist in a PG thread.

Note: pushing this as a rough draft, I am going to add links and archives/additional information.

I remember these guys were stupid enough to post a letter with their address on it. It was archived, I'll see if I can find it.

Didn't this argument get proven to be wrong?
No, but it's been misrepresented horrendously. The poster actually rides the line of misrepresenting it. You CAN'T be charged for the act of yelling fire in a theater, period. If I go to a theater and yell fire, causing people to rush out, and nobody gets hurt, I can't be criminally charged with anything. I can have a civil citation for disturbing the peace, or trespassing, but there's no criminal liability for the contents of the speech itself. What the ruling states is that if there is action that directly arises from your speech that leads to a criminal violation (in this case, involuntary manslaughter), then you can be held liable because you directly (key word) instigated the action with your speech.

Also, the poster isn't telling the whole story. While you can't facilitate the use of your web infrastructure to distribute illegal materials, you have NO duty to actively search your entire infrastructure every day for illegal material, then remove it. What you have a duty to do is remove the material once you are made aware of it's existence, either through user reports, site administrators, or government notices. The poster is trying to blur that line.

The bottom line is that the government of France wants all communications for their citizens to be moderated, easily accessible to them, and easily monitored by the state. This isn't about drugs, terrorism, or any other of the charges they hit Durov with. It's a message that "you will moderate speech, and you will violate everyone's privacy at our whim, or you'll be locked up." Pavlovski pissed them off by cutting access instead of bending the knee. When Durov did it as well, they needed to send a message that they won't stand for privacy.

These uber cunts really do deserve their own thread. I'm giving it a 90% chance that a thread on them will result in a C&D being sent to Null from their lawyers.

Absolutely. I want to change that, but I also need to be careful with my language.

I'm on my lunch break right now and need to get back to work - but I am going to work on this later.

If France says you do to operate in their country...you do. I'm not sure what law you're talking about, it sounds like you're speaking about the US. European law is very different when it comes to speech
Yes. That's section 230 in US law. You said "even in the US". If you reverted back to EU, you should have clarified.
