IT'd PL me too much.

They're still arguing that women are actually stronger, faster, and have more endurance than men. Still arguing that the sex division in sports is to keep women from embarassing men.

It's fucking tiresome.
Have they compared wrs of the various sports?

When you bring that up as well as you bring up the old US military PT standards, you usually get accusations of sexism, misogyny, and, of course that favorite feminist hit, the patriarchy.

It's this weird delusional bubble that goes completely in the face of everything in reality.

Most of this article is about unrelated thing whatsoever and REEKS of "I am one of the good ones!". And author referred to Freud unironically.
He's a british doctor born in 1949 who has worked in hospitals for prisons, lower income areas, and foreign countries. I think you've completely misread it.

I won't post quotes but there's a lot of interesting topics raised that feeds back into the general topic of insane and untruthful ideas ruining our genre literature and attitudes to gender altogether..

It's been mentioned before but even IRL the "no difference physically between Men and Women" brigade are almost always fucking shut-ins who only interact with the opposite gender purely on-line or in office situations. Men really do restrain themselves socially in showing how strong they actually are, that it becomes this "I could take them on" thing going (like the amount of people who think they could fight a 5-foot cassowary bird)

The only true sports - and this is still contested and due to a multitude of factors - sport where the upper end is approaching parity between males and females are endurance sports such as running, cycling and swimming, and still usually falls into the male side with a few odd outliers. (For example a cycling one had a female victory because the guy rode 10K the other way)

Obviously its been identified in times of extreme hardship, such as the Potato Famine in Ireland, that women would live longer under starvation conditions than men. (I'll restrain myself from sperging on the storage of glycogen in muscles vs glycogen as body fat, but it is a thing)

1. Murderbot is very overrated.
Murderbot had its good moments, but it's kind of a one-trick pony in that it's stories about people freaking out that the Terminator Robot is sentient and living among them. This is entertaining but then I'm not at all interested in this character becoming "more human" or learning how to use pronouns.

Which is sadly where it went of course.

It does lean hard on this Tumblr-cynical writing style that became very evident in books like Gideon the Ninth etc that can be annoying after a while (ie: a few seconds). We can't all be bored teenagers making snarky comments. The original novella concept has been milked for all its worth - I found the novel sadly tedious. The first few hit a certain spot but there's not enough going on in the rest of this Low Budget Expanse Worldbuilding to really carry the core concept beyond OH SHIT ITS A KILLER ROBOT. I preferred the stories where it's ambivalent towards people altogether.

How would you describe Tumblr-cynical writing style? I know of Whedonesque, which should be erased entirely, but I don't know about that one

From what i know on my tumblr days its more or less the same thing but worse cause it throws in a dash of "FUCK YOU MOM AND DAD!" sperging and there's some retarded snippy comment every five words alongside it usually being in first-person perspective.

You ever read Harry Potter and the whatever of Rationality? It's like that.
I must admit, I never actually read except for the sixth and seventh books because my family was too poor to buy the books, even the ones I read was borrowed and gifted by someone else. The combination of the license price, the expensive paper quality, and the publisher jacking up the price made the books inaccessible for me. And libraries doesn't help either because the books are always checked out by someone

No it's cringe fanfiction, not the actual series. Anyway it sounds like that's not what he was thinking of.

In the book, Clanchy writes indignantly about how her pupils lost out to white children in the judging of literary prizes, or rarely saw themselves represented in books;
“My book is not a racist book, it’s an anti-racist book, and the ways that it was portrayed completely misportrayed the sense of the passages,”
She has been called a white supremacist, accused of “Nazi-adjacent thinking”, and says that some “quite respectable people” mocked her bereavement online. “I think there is something about grieving that provokes rage – why should she have sympathy when we don’t have sympathy?’”
She got exactly what her ilk deserves. The only regretful part of this whole affair is that she will continue to write. Which is a travesty given that she both, agrees with her critics premise and caved to it.

LOL, not even fucking CLOSE.

I see that all the time and just start fucking laughing.

Look at the records and the median times for the runners.

My favorite is "Past 100 miles, women do better than men!"

No, no they fucking don't.

By 8th grade the disparity is so high as to be fucking hilarious at anything over a mile.

I'm not dissing female marathon runners, they're phenomenal athletes with dedication and commitment that most people can never match.

But no, it doesn't approach parity at all.

Obviously its been identified in times of extreme hardship, such as the Potato Famine in Ireland, that women would live longer under starvation conditions than men.
I read a few of those and one thing I noticed, is it completely ignores such things and men going hungry to make sure the women and children are fed.

But, yeah, the majority of the people who are "WOMEN AND MEN ARE TOTES THE SAME PHYSICALLY!" have never even walked a mile at a time.

Or done a martial arts sparring session.

Heck, just do a simple body check a couple of times and see if they still think men and women are the same.

It's heartwarming article time:

Mmmmm, left wing cannibalism. The publishing industry must die so it can be reborn.
Okay, so here's the quote that sticks out to me most.

If she’d had sensitivity readers from the start, though, couldn’t they have caught some of the wording that upset people and caused her such grief? She’s unconvinced; there would always, she thinks, have been something.

She's absolutely fucking right. In this day and age, there will always be someone somewhere who gets offended by something and decides to make that everyone else's problem, no matter how much they have to reach to make it an issue, and online culture has been fine-tuned to help them do it. No amount of sensitivity reading or frantic kowtowing is going to appease some thin-skinned asshole who decides that you're a racist because you described a character's skin color in a certain way, and the sooner that the industry realizes that, the better off it'll be.
