YABookgate

#cockygate is a hashtag created when a romance author named Faleena Hopkins wanted to stop her competition by suing them and trademarking the word cocky. It ended up blowing up in her face and exposed a bunch of other scams in the self publishing world.

So that's yet another entry in the long list of people who have played stupid games and won stupid prizes over copyright. See also: that time Games Workshop tried to trademark "Space Marine" and sue everyone who used it no matter what; that total moron who sued J.K Rowling over the word "Muggle"; Lars Ulrich making an ass of himself over Napster.

Well, that's profoundly stupid. I know self-publishing is overflowing with morons, deviants, hacks, and scam artists of all shapes and colours, but it really kills me to see crap like this. My biggest fear is one day I'm going to have rub shoulders with these people and that's if I'm lucky enough to actually have my dreams come halfway true.

So, she knows exactly why these words were used and is pissy anyway.

that being said are there any YA books that are actually targeted towards teens at this point and not catladies

Nope. These women (mostly white) like that Paige moron earlier in this thread consider themselves the gatekeepers of these books, so now these authors have to write to please them instead of their original target audience. That’s what is infuriating about it.

Minor powerlevel. I read horror and it hasn’t felt the full infection of these parasites.... yet. That’s if you ignore Stephen King and his TDS.

My dad is still a big King fan. Last time I was over there, he had King's latest (The Institute) out on his coffee table. I bet him a cup of coffee I could open to a random page and find a Trump bashing sentence. I won.

Fucking knew it. Nothing will make these people happy other than using the tamest, least offensive language imaginable. And then it'd be unreadable. I love how that's worth taking 3 stars off for.
So the slurs were a problem, but the adolescent orgy was a-okay?
I find it interesting, the battle these people fight. Nobody has ever really discussed that about It. I really feel like pedo apologists and straight up pedophiles are fucking rampant in the SJW community. Look at how hard people push for kids to be at gay pride.

The last time that part of It was discussed, it exposed some Mexican as a pedo and he ragequit the Farms. (Trying to find the containment thread but I can't remember the spic's name.)

Well, considering that what I gleaned from that book is that “genderqueer” means “I’m gonna dress and behave exactly like a guy, and have no gender dysphoria from doing so. Then just tell people to call me ‘they’ because reasons”. I’m not surprised people are doing this.
