want sure if this would make more sense here or in the IT board, but this does relate to games or at least the process of making them, so i guess its okay to post it here.

but yeah, do you do game developing, be it indie or AAA? shitty mobile games or loot crate ridden multiplayer games?

I want to make a game some day, but that's it.
The majority of people I've met who call themselves "game devs" are idea guys.
They don't want to do any of the work on their idea (which they won't shut up about) and when others do offer to help they nitpick the fuck out of it and eventually call them idiots for not realizing their "vision".

there’s a lot of attention being made into getting Game Design college degrees these days
Look into their actual curriculum. Most of these (at least that I know about) aren't very much concerned about coding - they're outright Humanities, focusing on storytelling and such. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just that it might be easily hijacked into creating narratives of a certain kind...

FWIW, I mostly despise "modern" gamedev practices (and programming practices in general).

And look at how pozzed the game industry is, multiply that with the poz from non-STEM higher education then season liberally with idpol, diversity hiring and intersectionality. That's my impression at least from looking at the people in charge of teaching. The students aren't much better either, they have no prior experience even on a rudimentary modding level. That's like being accepted to Berklee without ever having touched an instrument.

There's always going to be some students that are driven, talented and ultimately successful, if that's because or despite gamedev college I can't say for sure but I lean towards "despite".

I have this gamechanging idea, but i dont want to share it with publicly because it's that good. I have no programming experience and I am not an artist but i can be a creative director, so I am looking for programmers, artists, musicians, scripters and testers. I am also broke so I can only pay with exposure when my great idea will be realized.

Do you have a Patreon I can donate to?
