I thought it was because Null actually encourages people to debate each other here but not to take it personally - that is, recognize differences but don't let it fracture the community.

While there are sections of the farms where an overwhelming tendency towards a certain political viewpoint trends, you can both call each other a retarded faggot in the middle of your debate without instantly getting banned. It's not something you can really do with other types of social media, given that social media in general tends to be short-form to quickly grab peoples' attention.

Fucked up how this is perhaps the only site I know where I can enjoy the forum's Off-topic sections. Without having to worry about thread derailment too much, since alot of users
either take the bait, spam shit, or jannies are being faggots and begin mass deleting the thread because it is actually relevant to the topic.

One of the most solid things here is the anonymity/no powerleveling.

It's not quite 4Chan level, but I think it keeps people from sorting themselves into groups. There's also little or no argument from authority, i.e. "As a hapa hermaphrodite..." It also sets up a forum where getting dogpiled one day doesn't mean you can never show your face again.

Another solid thing is that there's no time wasted on thought policing. Everyone's allowed to have a diversity of opinions on whatever topic, and that also feeds back into feeling like if you're dogpiled one day you can live to shitpost another day.
