Here's the thing. That's... not actually true. While their immediate neighboring states are seeing some blue exodus, most other states are seeing the Republicans moving out making them more red. The whole "California is making everyone else Blue" is -mostly- a myth propped up by the left to soothe their own butthurt egos.

The capitals and major cities see the largest influx of blue votes, so not entirely unsurprising. Most of the red voters leaving California state hating the large cities as a contributing factor and end up in the outlying areas. So a massive discrepancy forms on the visual side of things, which is nearly inverted on the statistical side of things.
