Yup, they'll ask you some basic info and possibly a password you have set on the account. If you are unable to provide a password, they can ask you for other details (such as expiry date on the card), if they suspect you are genuine, they can provide you with all the information you ask for. Stupidly easy to do if you're knowledgeable about the person you're pretending to be.

It varies a lot how they authenticate. Some don't even use passwords to protect accounts. Name, mailing address, last four of SSN, and you're in. If they have a human banker on the phone, then they could even social engineer them into bypassing authentication.

That’s the thing that makes the effort inherently illogical if we are to entertain the idea that this was all a 5D trolling op on OICs part: it wouldn’t make any measurable difference in Phil’s life if he didn’t get any money from OIC. Either someone else or the rest of the contributors would step up in some way to cover the slack, or they don’t and all that happens is that Phil has slightly less “disposable” income to blow. Especially if most of that money goes to Champions, Phil isn’t using money on anything of actual consequence to his quality of life.

Regardless, the results are ultimately the same: Phil spends the money he gets as quickly as it comes in and gets nothing of practical value in return. It literally wouldn’t matter if OIC never existed as far as the actual effects their money has on Phil’s life is concerned imo.
