Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

So it looks like Toolbox theory will be made after all. https://www.reddit.com/r/TNOmod/comments/pq1qq9/development_diary_xv_its_the_economy_stupid/

Why does every hoi4 that toozers gets the axe
The answer is that Toozer mods usually don't have actual coders working for them and rarely if ever is there actuall work being put into them,
While I understand the sentiment and agree that there are nuggets of gold (mainly in the non western part of the community), the Soy4 modding community left such a bad taste in my mouth that I can't take them seriously anymore.
Understandable, I don't think we can agree but I can understand why you feel that way.

Does any of this actually work? I don't believe Soy4 can handle all of these subsystems at once and simulate a global economy without a country shitting itself every other day. Does it contribute to a large number (which is a process not simulated by AI countries) and sort itself out thereon?

I posted about this on the thread before but I'm more or less optimistic about TT. Because it looks like a genuine effort to turn TNO from a glorified visual novel to an actual Cold War game. Though I'll hold off on the hype until actual release when my second child is born.

Exactly. i have hopes for it and imo it does look real good. if it ever comes out though is yet to be seen.

Freddy also made a half-assed appology to RU-TNO community and implied working on correct representation of Russia.
I suppose we won't see any meme warlords any time soon, seeing how TNO team already started cutting some of already existing ones out.

Then: There is no russophobia in TNO
Now: I apologize for russophobia in TNO
Huh. Guess he just wants to make sure nobody targets him again after his return. I wonder what will the slacktards do (or rather try to).

I dont think slackjawed himself can do much, unless he makes a alt yt account and post a new video

So did Pacifica and RU-TNO squash the beef or is the apology a one sided thing

try mods made by old farts(either in age or years vested in pdx games/mods)

Apperently Pacifica joined RU-TNO-related Discord server and they somewhat talked things out. I know it for sure because modding community in Russia also talks a lot and shares insides.
Also, Pacifica discovered Rusophobia and is now all against it. I honestly don't know when such idea came from, since most westerners don't get it and SJW's didn't change their policy on Russians that much.
That being said, some RU-bans are still not lifted and likely won't be.

I love strategy games and HoI4, which is the easiest of the main Paradox games.

But when dreaming of being a politician better go for Victoria or EU instead of HoI. You get that the creators of TNO are total politispergs, cause the, in my opinion, best thing about TNO is that it massively improves the politics and economy mechanics and inserts lots of RPG elements, politics and the economy are very shallow represented in the base game. To an extent, this makes TNO feel like a completely different game.

The base game and all mods that don't change core game mechanics (like Kaiserreich, Red Flood, Millenium Dawn, Equestria at War, The Great War etc.) is more like real time strategy than grand strategy, since when playing it right it's 90% micromanaging your troops anyways. You win by commanding your divisions directly and being good at that, not through choosing the right focus tree or changing ideology. Don't use battleplans and don't automate anything, not in HoI, Paradox or complex strategy games in general, which are all known for having bad AI, you wouldn't want that control your nation and forces and throw away the only advantage you have over the AI, being a human (at least in single player where you can pause everytime, multiplayer or games without pausing are a different thing).

E.g. Equestria at War massively suffers from this problem, as the creators invested much into lore and RPG elements without actually changing the mechanics, so it adds up very little to actual gameplay. When playing as a major country I always win, wether I'm suprecamist or harmonic and regardless of who I vote vor, I could blindly click through most events and it wouldn't make a huge difference.

Yeah, I know, Paradox games are nerdy stuff and Paradox game mods are, like, the nerdiest thing in the world after throwing Pen&Paper nights.
