I'm fascinated with your theory, as its the first one (including my own) that really seems to explain the behavior.

My question is: As unlikely as it is that Lucas is consciously doing this, do you think this "transgression as weakening of acceptable norms" behavior is almost instinctual in him?

Or is it indeed voluntary?

I think it is learned behavior that Lucas doesn’t really comprehend. There is a dizzying array of sources to learn this sort of behavior across all mediums and I’m sure Lucas has drawn inspiration from a few, but I think the most recent and most obvious place to begin would be Pick-Up-Artist literature and communities. My next guess based on likelihood would be porn involving legal teenage actors and older men that have roleplay elements in it.

Lucas most certainly doesn’t understand himself, the things he says, and his behavior, as being predatory and manipulative. From his perspective he is being the perfect gentleman and consummate feminist who is only guilty of politely introducing himself to a woman, complimenting her, and then inviting her to eat a meal in the pleasure of his company that he’ll gladly pay for.

What is instinctual for Lucas isn’t so much how he tries to strategize talking to women or how to lure them into a dating situation, but how he seeks to place himself around young women. Recording them at bus stops, or going to parks to watch them exercise, etc, etc.
