Plagued /vt/ and related vtuber lunacy - Touhou brony console wars

Ishinomaki Tsumuri is a snail-themed vtuber who debuted on August 13, 2021, as part of the vtuber group 201号室 (Room 201). Tsumuri was previously a voice actress for the NicoNico Cookie☆ meme community and eventually became a vtuber by the name of Azuki Aisu Ranmaru. For reasons I'm unclear of because I'm a filthy EOP (English-Only Peasant), Tsumuri gained a lot of antis after becoming a vtuber, documented here. As a result, the antis followed her to her new vtuber identity, Tsumuri. As JOPs looking for the best way to stir up drama and shit on their hated enemy, they had the great idea to post about her on the internet hate machine itself: https://warosu.org/vt/thread/S8212735.

As you can see, the plan was a resounding success and Tsumuri was BTFO'd and instantly committed seppuku after getting doxxxxed and DDOSed by the hacker 4chan.

As noted in the OP of the initial thread, Tsumuri gained a reputation for long endurance streams and continued to do them frequently in her first month alongside the small audience of saviorfags from /vt/ and those gawking at the spectacle. This was all well and good until the most tragic event to happen on the date September 11 occurred, and Tsumuri made history as the first vtuber to rip their fucking fingernail off on stream (/vt/ thread link):

This video is a clip of the stream, which was privated, and is the only footage I know of that exists of the incident. This clip was allegedly made by an anti and at the end of the clip, various comments and blurred images are edited in.
For those wondering about the censored images at the end of the clip, ask yourself what any sane fan would do if they saw their oshi rip a nail off on stream. Of course you would rip off four toenails from your left foot to show solidarity with them so they wouldn't have to suffer alone:
In response, Tsumuri was suspended since and hasn't returned yet:

I was looking forward to sharing vtuber fan cringe, but seeing this thread fill up with autistic essays like this is giving me second thoughts.
Here's some people seething about Nyanners. Imagine carrying a grudge for years because your favorite pedo-bait called you a pedo.
e: lol great timing
The thing about Nyanners is she used to be a 4chan associated cover song and meme VA, then decided she wanted to be mainstream popular and told her original fanbase to fuck off.

The grudge is pretty understandable, especially on /vt/.

She went through a phase where she pretty much denounced gaming and anime went full on deranged SJW anti GGEr for a bit due to her lust for mainstream approval. Kinda similar to what hotwheels went though but unlike him she seems to have kinda gone back to her old habits to a degree. Please note TO A DEGREE because I'm aware apparently twitter and discord there's still weird PC fun police bullshit going on. I don't follow these lets players too closeley but A guy i know does and he didn't fucking even know about the weird shit surrounding her despite knowing she used to do the offensive song covers.

Holy fuck. Did she give a reason why? I'm pretty sure that's literally a form of torture and I can't imagine why any sane person would do that to themselves. Those J-antis were being annoying but maybe they were legit trying to save their kaigai niki from a fucking crazy person.

Also, don't want to hear how Gawr Gura is pedobait when there's a model like that out there, oof. At least the voice doesn't match.

Re Nanners, we've already gone back and forth on her in this thread the other day, so I'll briefly restate my position: If you're upset by her "betrayal" you should probably consider what you ever did for her which required her to have any degree of loyalty to you. Get over yourself.

I'm a weeb and for the most part, I find vtubers annoying. I know a few people who like vtubers. They're all men who are fairly lonely in their lives. It's not much different from people who watch streamers on Twitch.

I don't tend to watch streamers because I don't see the point in interacting with someone who's only bond you will form with is probably your wallet. That includes small streamers. I don't understand people trying to make friends with streamers or vtubers. These people are not your friends and I don't think it's a healthy dynamic. Not saying it won't happen, but it's a real roundabout way of making friends.

You might not be far off. Though from the guys I know, some of them donate absurd amounts of money. They've got enough disposable income.

I'm annoyed because this shit keeps infecting the communities I'm a part of. The big fad right now is rebranding into a vtuber or trying to become one yourself. If this vtuber stuff appears in my feed, it's almost always vtubers doing lewd stuff, or strange compilations of people chronicling a popular vtuber making "cute" noises or mentions of stuff coomers are attracted to.
Thats how they hide it though. Using the plausible deniability of trendchasers and actual fans throwing their money in who think that 5000 spambots making the chat run fast enough to cut a tree down spamming the same shit in japanese for hours on end are “legit” youtubers.

Its not exclusive behavior to just the vtuber fad and has been done before.

Prove it.

I'm not invested in this controversy, but I'd liken it to something as simple as a friend not only severing their relationship with you, but then shittalking you with their new friends. The implication was that you were used for some selfish purpose (in this case, notoriety) and then promptly thrown away once she had enough, but you also got pissed on afterwards. Whether she owes anyone anything, that doesn't sound fun.

On the other hand, those guys set themselves up fawning over le based girl.

In defense of Highschool of the Dead, it's basically a parody and I have never laughed as hard as I did when they showed boobs breaking the sound barrier while dodging bullets.
Also, it had good animation and striking cinematography.

...the series as a whole, I mean.

Can't believe it only took 14 pages for this thread to be tagged as infected, I want to say that's an impressive feat but I haven't been on the farms long enough to say that with complete certainty.

Most of the spergery related to the VTuber community tends to fall into 3 general categories:

1) General simping and donating ludicrous amounts of money for no reason other than the 0.01% chance they'll get some kind of attention
2) Coomer nonsense relating to how "lewd" they are as if it hasn't been done 1000 fucking times already
3) 10 follower indie VTubers tweeting about how so much better they are than every corporate VTuber but in reality they have the exact same personality as the other 500 indies that haven't even debuted yet

Though there has been some pretty good stuff to come out if that Joseph Randisi guy is of any indication, dude is beyond the level of your usual simp and has been a pretty consistent cow to laugh at for months now.

Nyanners' case is interesting in that she didn't exactly point fingers at any specific site, just called a chunk of her fanbase who enjoyed lolicon jokes "gross" in an obvious attempt to erase/justify her edgy past before tumblr (and bragged about being able to do away with that segment of her disgusting creepo fans because she had over 100K subs and it's fine for them to fuck off).
I don't think anons in general cared (not counting any schizos) beyond treating her as a taboo topic and mocking those who still brought her up - an attitude especially prevalent on 8chan's /a/ and today's webring bunkers that rose from its ashes - until she resurfaced as a mildly successful vtuber and then got big again.

Much like LilyPichu, it sounds like she spent years trying to appeal to pedos using pedobait. Not sure why people get this overt attachment to her. She sounds like every other opportunistic e-girl. It's Tuesday so her shoe goes on the other foot.

One thing is being a chantard online, and a very different thing is being one IRL and on top of that letting the shit you did online follow you IRL

As for this bitch she was probably told by "advisers" to go sjw since thats what their metrics say its trendy and AD-friendly. But her mediocre content only appeals to no-life weebs so now she has to go back, simple as that.

Not everybody can pull a dirty frank and go mainstream

Fair enough
When you got no talent, you do what you gotta do.

What makes "debut"s so important? I see so many nobody indie VTubers trying to hype the shit out of them.

As for vtubers, I think we covered plenty of them in the Arcadum thread. Many of them have 2000-5000 twitter followers and seem to live in a fantasy land by which they try giving off the image that they're so friendly to each other and have "communities".

The market is currently oversaturated so it's seen as a do-or-die way to make a splash by the indies. Corporate chubas have the comfort of being able to flub their debuts and later (mostly, usually) recoup the losses since their companies provide internal resources and access to other talents for collab... but it's not a rule.
In this case, it's probably about so-called vtweeters: people who claim they're vtubers "about to debut", never do that but try to inject themselves into the community (usually to preach politics or garner clout).

Debuts are only really important in the context of new talent coming through corporations, it somewhat makes sense for them to be hyped because there's already an established fanbase who'll watch them.

For indies? Not important at all, my guess is they think they're more important than they actually are and it's some vain attempt at them pretending to have some kind of support or backing.

It's an endless shit-flinging cycle and that's putting it lightly, It's another case of entertainers stepping on one another for some cheap short term attention hoping it sticks but after realizing nobody wants them around they just quit, that or they get pissy because they didn't hit the algorithm the way they expected they would.

Pssh, I'm pretty sure we got the "Infected" tag somewhere around page 3 or so.

Yes, exactly. If you think someone becoming a vtuber is lazily chasing a trend, what do you think about someone who says they're a vtuber but then can never actually be bothered to vtube? Sure, commissioning the assets and getting the hardware set up takes time, blah blah, but I'll be generous and say that until you have at least a set-in-stone debut date, you're not a vtuber and shouldn't present yourself as one. You're just another asshole on Twitter with stupid opinions. So I think, even for tiny indies, having had a debut stream is significant.
