Canada Federal election 2021

Plus voting reform is effectively dead and if that couldn't be forced through with a majority it's going to be hard doing the same with a minority for electronic voting. Libs won't want to rock that boat and have little reason given how Montreal and Toronto vote.
The reason it wasn't put through from Trudeau is because he went for ranked ballots, leading to guaranteed Liberals majority. People want proportional representation not just alternatives to FPTP. He could've passed it but it would've led to massive protest for essentially making him and his party a guaranteed dictator.

Exactly, it's why it's dead. All three of the main parties have different systems in mind for electoral reform, ensuring nothing ever happens because the chosen system is only really going to benefit one party. It's an issue set to turn into the likes of equalization or senate reform, something talked about at times, but never seriously considered.

Well the conservatives got 5.5 million votes and the Libs got 5.2 million. By popular vote the conservatives won. I personally like the ranked ballot best. It ensures leaders that the majority of the population find acceptable. The more complicated forms of proportional representation will leave most Canadians in the dark about how their leaders are elected. If we had a ranked ballot there would be a lot more feasible smaller parties because vote splitting wouldn't be a thing.

No it wouldn't, a ranked ballot would knock out the Greens+PPC+Independents, then whichever is last between NDP,CPC,LPC, would be knocked out, generally leading to LPC having 50%+ of the vote. It would ALWAYS lead to LPC super majority, not help third parties ever. Even in ranked, with weighted points, it would always lead to LPC. We have 3 parties in Canada, Left (NDP), Left-Center (LPC), Right-Center (CPC), with LPC being the center party, ergo always winning a ranked ballot.

A proportional ballot per region with multiple seats may help but it wouldn't change too much, and with the issues of urban having many more voters, the rural areas would need to be inflated for "fair" representation. It's a difficult system to figure out as there is only 1 other country like ours, but we only have 13 provinces/territories, unlike the 50 in the States. The LPC just took a simple system to meet their election goal with 0 risk.

I wish we had a US-style electoral college.
I think that'd actually be worse. In that scenario, most of the electoral votes would be stacked in Ontario and Quebec - and the only time that the Conservatives have won both provinces were in the two elections where Brian Mulroney won absolutely fuckoff huge majorities. Every election would therefore turn into either an outright Liberal win, or an inconclusive election that would presumably be decided in parliament, where the Liberals have the advantage in piecing together electoral coalitions.

But most ridings heavily favour Quebec and Ontario already. With a US electoral system you'd, ideally, get equal representation for smaller provinces,

That'd be a bit of a double-edged sword. Yeah, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba would get more representation in that scenario... but so would the Atlantic provinces, which have trended extremely pro-Liberal in the last few elections.

Someone please help, there’s already spergs at work claiming that we got election fraud going on and that’s the only reason Trudeau is still in the house

Get a job, you fucking faggot.
I am lord of the fractals. I have no need for this "job" thing you speak of. I am like that of a god; in my drug fueled frenzy I simply walk over to this portal thing I call a monitor, and through the filter of rainbow and light rays I summon money from the Ether, otherwise known as the Canadian Revenue Agency. Just through the act of existing I am rewarded with gifts from the Universe itself. I then walk down to my local Kiaro across the street and using this government space bucks I buy all the weed I want, and then return back to my lair to consume for the month.

While the Universe is bountiful, this magic is not limitless, and I am without food. However, there has been a recent new supply of protein from which I draw forth. Using a portal called Grindr, I simply summon a never ending supply of exotic foreigners who can supply me with all the substances I need, and with a never ending supply of free PreP, I am eternal and undying.

Fear me. The only thing even analogous to this "jerb" thing you speak of would be a minor period between drug fueled years when I stumble down to this magical voting booth thing to strike a check upon a paper that reads "Liberal".

Tell him, that for all the shitty things Canada does, we do elections right. You need photo ID to vote, if you want to vote by mail, you need to request a ballot. Everything is done by paper. There's no "central ballot counting" location that you can force out observers and block out windows. As we elect specific MPs for each riding, actual fraud would be only guarantee that MP into office but do jack shit otherwise. You can ballot stuff Trudeau's riding with 300,000 votes for PM Blackface and that does fuck all for the rest of the Liberal Party.

Now, don't get me wrong, the Liberals have some advantages...like supporting government funding for all major media organizations, which nets them favorable press from the Fifth estate, but that only influences people to vote one way or another, it doesn't stuff ballot boxes.

That’s what I basically said, but the boomer is convinced that Joe Biden somehow hacked this election to keep Trudeau in power.
I heard some stories about the kids of former Prime Minister Jean Chretien who are married to the kids of medias owners like his daughter France Chretien Desmarais, daughter of Paul Desmarais who once owned some of the major newspapers in Quebec.

Now this is happening. Mad Max doxxing journoscum.
