Seems like a lot of work for what might end up being a small gain. I obviously don't know anything about the bookkeeping here but I wonder how many people actually contribute in crypto, even if it's preferred.Josh could always set up a permanent legal war chest, store the funds as crypto, and publicly post the wallet address(es) (for transparency).
Additional war chests could be set up for specific goals, like trying to recover costs from Russ. If the goal isn't reached, the balance would just be added to the permanent fund and would be used the next time a legal issue comes up.
With smart contracts, both "chests" could be set up to require consent from both Null and a trusted third party (e.g. one of his lawyers or Rekieta) before funds can be withdrawn.
Theoretically, it would also be possible to create a second "Russ fund" that wouldn't automatically send residual balances to the main legal fund if goals aren't reached. This way, people who hate Russ but aren't especially inclined to give money to the Farms might feel more comfortable contributing.
If the payment system wasn't so fucked and people could send money as easily as they do to 'non-objectionable' causes I think this well-defined and immediate goal would probably be doable. It's too bad we can't exactly kickstart a kiwifarms legal motion to punish Russ Greer and hope that an anonymous "TS" donates $2500.
