We have a lot of patients who claim to have seizures, but they're mostly either not witnessed or they're the tv version of what people think a tonic-clonic seizure is. They never have a postictal phase either. And they either refuse to have an EEG or it comes up normal.
So they usually get diagnosed with PNES, but we generally put them on Depakote, Lamictal, Trileptal, Tegretol, or Keppra, just to be safe (also the first couple are often used as psych meds - bonus!).
