The story hits into a lot of millennial leftist talking points: cruel businessmen working their employees to death, a male coach sexually harassing/raping his students plays into #MeToo delusions, an old artist stealing the “talented creations” of his protégés, dirty cops and prosecutors, and a right-wing politician masterminding a conspiracy composed of at least half of these people. Alongside that, we have the high-school teacher moonlighting as a sex worker to pay off debt she amassed because the family of a failing student who was working multiple part-time jobs blamed her for his death and demanded compensation (these adoptive parents are revealed to be greedy assholes that just want people to pay for their luxurious lifestyle rather than people with their own money problems struggling with the loss of one of the main ways they keep afloat), the aforementioned art protégé being encouraged to expect people to give him money for his “unappreciated masterpieces”, and the fact that our heroes are teenagers moonlighting as thieves to force “the Man” to repent for their crimes.
