Uhhh, over half of Aus citizens have at least one parent that was born overseas, the Anglo roots were strong back at the start of the 1900s but after WW2 there's been waves of immigration into the country, 30 years ago it use to be Wogs or Italian immigrants that received the brunt of racial abuse, now it's Afghans and Sudanese but can't make fun of them because they're a protected class and that's hate speech. There's also been influxes of Indians and Chinese, mostly because they don't want to go up against their tough national exams where they'd finish position 1,000 something but here they're in the top 10 easily and take a liking to what they assumed was a more relaxed country than the one they left.

And a bit of a history lesson for you. The reason that Aus doesn't have guns is because of the Port Arthur Massacre. I know you yanks are use to murders in the few dozens every year with automatic weapons. Cue an opportunistic poli called Johnny Howard and he introduces a buy back scheme of $1,000 per rifle, funded by an increase in Medicare costs. 600k firearms destroyed, Gov then introduces very strict rules to own a gun (Have to have a legitimate reason for using it I.E Hunting animals in bushland, ammo has to be stored in a separate safe, inspections have to happen yearly to make sure you're complying). All that said, there have been a number of state amnesty programs over the years and just this year the gov introduced a permanent one. As of 2017 there were about 3 million guns registered here and about 400k unregistered, according to wikipedia. Me thinks more unregistered with whats happened over the past week or two.

Mate lives in the middle of bumfuk nowhere, I'm talking a population of about 2k people along side a highway between cities. Also if you want to look up how incompetent NSW police are, the 2014 Sydney siege is a good example, islamic extremist takes over cafe, he eventually kills one of the hostages after a few get away, police go in, they kill him but also kill one of the hostages due to shooting a chair she was hiding behind 10 times, resulting in her receiving 7 bullet wounds due to sharpnel because the SOG wanted to use their M4s instead of MP5s.
