I remember when he was caught maskless at a baseball game and lied about it, saying he was just having a sip of water. When they told him they had video of him sitting maskless next to a non-household member for minutes at a time, he was like, "Well I've known that person or a long time and I think we don't have to wear masks around each other." He got caught breaking a public health rule, lied about it, and made up a completely implausible excuse. Meanwhile, people were being arrested for much less dangerous activities, like that guy surfing in California. Later, Fauci admitted lying about the utility of masks in order to preserve them for healthcare workers. What else has he lied about? Maybe his reason for visiting those bath houses in the 80s?

I don't hate the guy, and acknowledge he might be a good enough administrator to worm his way into government (but not out, tellingly). I don't pay attention to him, though. And I think he's done a lot of damage to public health efforts among people who are inclined to be skeptical of authority. He should not have been given a public speaking role. On the other hand, without someone acceptable to the left out front, they would have gone full antivax like Kamala Harris and Andrew Cuomo were leaning right before the election. Then we'd have a bunch of liberals getting COVID because they refuse to take Donald Trump's vaccine. And the TDS thread would simultaneously become our version of CovidAteMyFace. the way florida seems to be going out of its way to do everything wrong as some kind of gotcha against the left is just. it feels like the apex of cutting off your nose to spite your face. the southeastern united states has been struggling with this nonsense for months but florida is definitely not making it better, because yeeyees are looking at them and saying "yeah, they got the right idea! we should do that too!" while pressuring businesses and local governments to follow suit until they cave in just so they'll shut up.

your freedom stops where someone else's safety begins. if ignoring traffic laws didn't run the risk of getting innocent parties injured or killed, and only put yourself in harm's way by being a sped, it wouldn't be illegal.

I was pulling 2x FTE at the start of the pandemic but I just got tired of it. Back to my FHQC, since that's where I actually enjoy practicing.

The real winners here are the travel nurses. There's a massive nursing shortage and the hospitals here are paying $96/hr for...med/surg. Not kidding.
