I saw a video on Tiktok from a laser tattoo removal company. Literally all of the top rated comments were people saying this video was praise kink gold.

Germany feels like they have to make up for sth and be kinda nice to minorities. Politically, we sure are overcompensating. On the other hand we have a reputation for being disgustingly honest and giving zero fucks about hurting people. Ask us if you look good in the dress: we tell you you‘re fat and that‘s not your color. The troon feelgood bullshit seems to be working mostly on people who are attuned to the US cultural and political debate. And it is mostly spread by people introducing English words „gender, they/them“ etc into the language not even trying to translate it. So I am guessing the drive to change also comes from the anglosphere and esp the mainstream consensus of what good progressive positions are - it‘s getting sold as a package.

Lots of German trannies tweet in English as well, probably not enough validation and likes from German troons alone. The best part is when they misappropriate those anti-sex-segregation arguments bc black racial segregation when that was never really the issue in our country. They all just get their arguments pre-frabricated.

+1 here too. About 15 years ago a guy at my work (U.K., public sector, big org) transitioned and it really was NBD. He was on leave for a couple of weeks, out of the blue HR sent a short email to all noting that X was coming back as Y [female name] & just asked people to be aware & respect her change. And we all did - discrimination where I work is a super-big no-no. We were all very ‘eh, I had no idea! Fair enough’, and she was just the same as before but in female office clothes / longer hair, and it was really not more of a fuss than female colleagues who change their work surname after marriage. I don’t recall her ever making any big deal out of it, reacting if misgendered etc. We were all ultra polite & she just wanted to get on with work in peace.

I had a similar colleague in a public sector organisation that wasnt known for sparing feelings. This was about 15 years ago and although she didnt pass whatsoever, we hadnt been indoctrinated with the idea that troons was constantly on the brink of suicide. So apart from when we met her, we didnt give it a second thought.

I respected her for being good at her job and comfortably call her she/her. In retrospect i have even more respect for how she focused on her skills and ability rather than identity.

Something clicked when I read this and I wonder if this is why there’s such a disconnect between people’s experience with trans people at work/life and their experience “online”
If a guy “feels like a woman” but the women he has known are professional, decent, realistic women, you’re probably going to end up with someone who wears a dress but is otherwise just another decent person.
If the same happens but the man is getting their “women” not from real life but cartoons, porn or just curated online interactions, then you’re not selecting for men who feel like women, you’re selecting for men who feel like they have a feminity fetish.
Maybe that’s why your old school trans folks were, while probably weird, able to keep professional and decent in everyday interactions, as people tend to do. But these guys who have probably never really interacted with a woman just fetishize them and play-act what they think women are like when men aren’t watching.
