Tag me late, but RT's favorite sponsor, ExpressVPN, got outed for having their CIO be a Saudi Glow-in-The-Dark. I wonder how badly this'll fuck shit up.
Welp, was considering using Express but if they have a big 3 glowing letters CEO then I’d rather not. I’d probably go for Surfshark then, cheaper, doesn’t keep logs (Express didn’t either but I’m not having glowies track my ass), and is apparently faster.

You could save a whole lot of money by just browsing porn at the local library like a normal person.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if they continue shilling it like nothing bad ever happened, just like they've done with BetterHelp.

I remember a podcast episode where they talked about Fiona's hiring. Trevor just looked up some twitch streamers, found a girl that was dark enough, and brought her on. Can't remember the exact episode, but it sounded like he didn't even really consult with AH, he asked someone from another department if she thought Fiona would be good. Maybe they did talk about it, but considering Trevor has always had a hard time understanding what made AH work, I wouldn't be surprised if that's exactly what happened.
Wasn't she brought it for a test episode or two before being hired? I swear the first time I remember seeing her was alongside Etika and some other dude.

Fiona wasn't so bad, I'm not saying shes not bad now but Linus from tech tips talks about the "proper" way to bring on new screen talent and its applicable here. She was just tossed straight into content and like any normal person starting a new job the first couple of weeks is can be trying to find your legs and confidence with your roles. Its best not to show that to the world.

Any legitimate criticism was drowned out in trolls and just normal racist trash.

Which lead to where she is today, not funny no real work experience and every one blowing smoke up her ass.

Also I'd just like to touch on the subject of Mica. I don't know what happened at RT with her because it was all hear say and I don't think she was ever hired to be an on camera presence. But the few videos she was a guest in I enjoyed, her voice wasn't painful to the ears and she had a bit of a sense of humor.

Mica today however I get the impression is really stuck up and lives a very privileged life. I follow her on IG and she posts photos of glamour events in LA and all the amazing accessories she buys for her horse. So there could be a very real chance that whatever happened in the past was because she is just a stuck up cunt.

Did you watch her infamous rant on Off Topic? She was annoying, entitled and just all round shit cunt when you took into account her rich and pampered upbringing.

That rant is what turned me off from liking her in the first place. As I said, the best way to describe that terrible stream of words is "I hate my skin color, but I will punch you if you say racism doesn't exist."

For reference what Linus said, in an interview with GamersNexus, was that new writers (i.e. people that were expected to be on-screen) went through probation and an on-boarding process. They would start by writing scripts which would then be critiqued and revised together with the lead writer, if the idea was good enough the writer would then sit down and review it with Linus. They didn't have an expectation that the first few scripts would make it to videos, but expected to see progression. Their on-screen presence would start with appearing in the background of videos, progress to cameo speaking appearances, then larger speaking parts, "unboxing" or "tech news" type videos on a secondary channel or "behind the scenes" videos on floatplane, then co-hosting main channel videos, then finally solo-hosting main channel videos. They expected this process to take 12-18 months, minimum. This long burn-in period was critical to both get the new host used to the audience, and the audience used to the new host.

I.e. LTT has continual growth because it is run by professionals not sometime funny local dipshits with no or limited experience and crippling emotional defects.

This doesn't really explain why both Mica and Fiona were god awful after the first few weeks of being "new employees".

Also, did you seriously buy the RT narrative that legitimate critique was "Trolls and Racists"? Because it was blatant deflection (as it always is regardless of company) by RT to try and cover for their terrible diversity hire decisions to try and sidestep the people who rightfully pointed out how awful these two were.

I feel you have extremely rose tinted glasses on Mica as well. She was always a stuck up privileged LA shit stain.

Well, I don't really think Mica was intended as on screen talent, but they definitely did not use her effectively. If they were adamant about hiring her and making her on screen talent, they should have tried finding something she was good at and comfortable with instead of just throwing her into every AH video and hoping for the best.

As for Fiona, take her out behind the shed and put her down. She is the antithesis of funny or entertaining, and her existence in any content will cause it permanent irreparable damage.

I used to really enjoy Achievement Hunter's Gmod prop hunt/TTT videos since they were one of the few that actually played it with a decent amount of people due, but at time went on and the diversity hires became more and more prevalent they became less and less enjoyable to watch until finally I just stopped watching all together and unsubscribed. Each time the token black girl would 80% of the time just be loud and spergy without contributing to gameplay because they just flat sucked at videogames.
I know what you mean. There was one stream where Fiona was supposed to show up and they kept going "Where's Fiona?" and talking her up like she was actually entertaining. It was so forced and annoying. It's what I call a Poochie moment.

What "racist trash"? Back before she was an official member, I'd comb through comments to see what other people said of her. Her criticisms were "She doesn't talk enough", "She doesn't have good chemistry with the others" and rarely "She's not funny." No one on the RT site or youtube were slamming her because of racism, and if it was happening on twitter or reddit, I'd be very surprised.
That rant is what turned me off from liking her in the first place. As I said, the best way to describe that terrible stream of words is "I hate my skin color, but I will punch you if you say racism doesn't exist."
Can you elaborate on what happened, please? i don't think I have all the details on what she was talking about then. Sorry, very late, I know,

Basically she had Geoff break down and cry because she felt that Roosterteeth did absolutely nothing to discourage fans from attacking her with hate over her race and sexuality.

Considering they didn't even clean out the fridge when quarantine started, that's not outside the realm of possibility.
To be fair, I doubt they expected the 8 weeks to become one and a half years.

It's okay, they'll get Surfshark as a sponsor. Need to protect people from the evil activities of QAnnon.

Easy to do. I'm sure Geoff reflects on his life more now than ever. He was always liberal, which I actually liked, but he's very destructive on himself and probably in a spiral of depression. He cares too much, even if he says he doesn't.

See, that just doesn't make sense to me. Since when do you need to slowly integrate someone to let your audience 'get used to them', that just sounds stupid, like your audience is a bunch of faggots. OneyPlays just brought on a new guy and the first thing they did was stream with him for two hours and then he's been in every video since and people love him. How fucking gay must your audience be where you need to introduce a new host like you're introducing to strange to dogs to each other? The audience doesn't need time to adjust to a new personality, they just want to see someone entertaining.

If I went back in time and told my 2017 self that Funhaus is going to crash and burn midway through 2019, with Bruce, Lawrence and Adam leaving, each one of them for different reasons, James and Elyse trying to keep it altogether and failing miserably, resorting to token hirings that are unfunny as shit and make the OG cast a ghost of the past, I would not believe you.

I'm busy at the moment, but, in my OP I have an Archived video of Mica's rant, she did it on an episode of Off Topic with Burnie regrettably encouraging her spergout

I remember it being that Etika was planned to be hired…and then he died.

I also remember Mica’s thing being “RT was only interested in me to get close to my dad”. She talked about that a lot.
