Has anyone heard any updates on Biden's vaccine mandates? I haven't heard anything at my work place, and nothing online.
@mdrop22 - Without delving too much into TMI territory, does your workplace have 100+ employees since that's the threshold for the OSHA mandate? With the lack of any further guidance or direction, this definitely sounds more like a carrot and stick situation than something that's a bona fide legal requirement.
If any of these companies this applies to decide to dig in their heels and metaphorically say, "Make me," things might get more interesting, especially if there's no penalties or enforcement mechanism in place.
TL;DR - I don't think Biden was ever going to officially ask OSHA to do anything. I think Biden is just trying to scare corporations into doing his bidding.
I find this plausible. Biden coouldn't impose a national mask requirement due to states rights, so he instead reuqired masks on Federal property such as post offices. I see the OSHA mandate as Biden's way of doing an end-around on state's rights and having vaccines be required as a safety issue that seems debatable at best if not outright bureaucratic BS.
Most business owners don't want to deal with OSHA sticking their nose where it doesn't belong, so it follows that they would do whatever OSHA tells them to do to keep OSHA from shutting them down and/or fining them a ridiculous amount of money.
Looks like governor Greta Gretchen move in hope to get re-elected.
I can't recall if I shared it here or offline, so I'll post it now. TL;DR - i think something is going on or has taken place that the Michigan media doesn't want people to know.
Back at the end of January, it looked like winter school sports weren't going to happen. This prompted a group of parents to band together as an activist group and file a lawsuit. Shortly thereafter, the health director resigned and his replacement approved abbreviated winter and spring sports seasons with varying degrees of precautions.
When the same group of parents took issue with testing requirements for the spring season, another lawsuit was threatened. I have no idea if it was filed, but the various requirements/mandates slowly expired without being renewed by either Whitmer or the statewide health department.
Since then, Whitmer has uncharacteristically sat on her hands as people around wished for statewide mask requirements for going back to school and other situations. Given how quick she was to have these enacted in the past I can't help wondering if the lawsuits that were filed and threatened are at least part of the reason why she's made an 180-degree turn and letting counties, lower-level governance, and the private sector make the decisions themselves as much as possible.
Yes, it's possible she's doing this as part of her 2022 reelection campaign. However, her current lack of action seems out of character, especially since she can easily have Health and Human Services use the existing health code to enact whatever COVID regulations she wants. Something's happened, but mainstream media doesn't want to portray her or her administration in a bad light by disclosing what it might be,
