Yeah, I didn't see the film. My parents said it was pretty good, and it looked like a fun enough concept, but jeez, the over reliance on basic bitch references in comedies is grim death.
I mean if it's funny or just dumb refs who really cares (especially in a video game setting like this.) and hell I don't recall people bitching when Blazing Saddles pulled a whole Looney Tunes schtick during a scene.

I actually knew a guy who had the same thought pattern. He’d watch cartoons and anime and thought companies should make the technology on tv for no other reason than it looked cool or so he could live out his fantasies.

I swear these consumer geeks really are children. They see a shiny object and they go nuts over it.
They are, the proto-Bob I knew growing up was that way well into his 30's, believing the cool "future tech" on TV should be made in real life.... just because.... history and the superior future was downstream from Sci-Fi pop culture, or something.... and if we'd only do like they did in those shows (elevate the smart people, cure or marginalize small-thinking idiots), we'd have fusion power and food replicators in a week, tops.

"They should build holographic simulation booths like on Star Trek"

"Well, not only does that technology to do that not even exist in what could be charitably called "infancy" right now, but, even if they get there in the next 5 years, how would you afford it? First-adopters are going to have to probably shell out six figures for one the size of a phone booth, not a huge gymnasium-sized voice-activated one like on the Enterprise"

*sigh* "you don't GET it! "

"Obviously, what am I missing?"

"Forget it, you're just too dumb to see the future"

I dread to think about what people would really use holodecks for. Although it would at least be more respectable then what i assume Blob would use them for.
Well there were Quark's Holosuites on Deep Space Nine, and everybody knew exactly what they were for. Sure, they could be used like a Holodeck on the Enterprise with the more G-rated adventures, but the vast majority of time, it was simply LARP pr0nstitution.

That being the case, Bob is fat and even a holographic temptress would not have sex with him.

It wouldn't surprise me if Blob became the leading cause of holodeck characters gaining sentience and trying to skynet humanity.

Hell, there were multiple times in TNG where characters were caught up in degenerate shit on the holodecks. Even by the libertine standards the show was trying to portray, it was seen by the characters as distasteful and disrespectful, even though nobody ever actually did anything but frown about it.

"Go fuck yourself, you don't understand the emotional impact"

This is what they have been reduced to. References to pop culture are now enough to trigger strong emotions, and make whatever piece of dredge attached to it into an instant bona fide masterpiece. And don't question it, because evoking these emotions are the point of cinema or something.
It is no longer about showing multiple facets of humanity and how it reacts to certain situations, no longer about questioning certain points of view, no longer about showing an interpretation of history and plots, no longer about creating something. Now all it needs to entertain are cheap references to past works, sometimes verbatim. And the audiences will eat it up, because why not? They now feel smart because of understanding it and knowing where it came from, enough to openly cheer for it, perhaps even get misty-eyed over it.

And supposed "experts" like Vozhd Blob Chyepmyen are all for it.

Indeed - the Lindsay photo and subsequent putdown incident reminds me a bit of when Geordi ran a holoprogram of an attractive woman warp engine scientist to solve a problem and in a later episode the woman herself found out and chewed him out for it.

What is beyond meta?
TV Tropes, and autism.

This is downright Pavlovian; Consoomers are learned to feel "epic" whenever they see the Captain America shield or the light saber. And if you are not likewise conditioned and feel the same way, you lose your kool kid kred.

Bob's so unimaginative that he can't even do like most spergs do (like me lol) and have his own headcannon where it's like a AU (Alternate Universe) where Mario is from Brooklyn while this other "universe" of Mario with Yoshi's Island is its own separate parallel reality. I'm guessing he either missed out on the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Parallels" (worf kept shifting between different quantum realities after hitting a Quantum Fissure with the shuttlecraft he was riding in) or missed the point completely.

BTW anyone wanting to watch the video, don't click on the attachment in Ralph's quote there, click the arrow that will take you to his post with the video in it, or it'll hit error not found.
TO be completly honest. I precive the Mario Story like a "chosen one" story. A young homo nintendous is born in a magical land, moves to the real world, finds that he's actually magical irl, goes on wacky adventures. They're probably gonna do thatin the mario movie. Difference between me and bob is that I don't sperg out when my theory isn't true.

I hate that Chris is trying to make The Chippa a thing even though literally no one calls him that. It reminds me of Laura Loomer acting like people know what being "Loomered" is, but even more pathetic somehow. Is the entire Chipman family narcissistic like Bob and Chris?
Apologies for reviving stuff from a while back amidst The Mario Tragedy, I just saw this trending on the Twitter and in case anyone was still wondering why Robert was so enamored with Free Guy in particular but didn't want to actually see the movie, here it is:

TFW Zoomer and Millennial attention spans are so fucked that Hollywood has to make their own movies into reaction videos by inserting random people commenting on the action between shots. Cinema is dead.

The Democrats have run out of things to blame; now they are even blaming all the girls who ever jilted Zuckerberg.

It is lucky that Bobby didn't have more troubles with girls, or we wouldn't even be alive to shoot the breeze here.

Being a Thinker like Zuckerberg won't save you from Superior Future, unless you surrender your Thinkery invention to the Force of Good.

Hunter Biden's laptop continues to generate interest:

David Hogg makes an optimistic prediction. Ah how I miss youth.

Still, Bobby is right in pointing out that Hogg has successfully lifted himself out of his cohort -- simply by not going to school that day.

Speaking of workers.

Obviously the key word here is "deserve".

Bobby attempts to ridicule Peter Coffin (awww sweet!) backfired.

I would never have put up such compromising photos or videos of myself like Bobby or Coffin do, even if these could occasionally drop a quarter or a dime in my pocket.

A woman is at wit's end about a sealion that climbed onto her boat. "Where did you come from? You have to go! Oh godness I don't know what to do." Soon she found herself besieged by sealions.

No-you eugenics:

No fucking idea. Is Bobby suggesting that his family was middle-class (instead of "working class" as he always insisted)?

This fat fuck is so foul that he even tried to bring Joyce and Hemmingway to his level:

Bobby thinks Free Guy is the antithesis of Ready Player One.

People are hasty to point out that the rest of Free Guy is not like that clip, and Bobby claims he has an apartment by the beach.

Chinky Capeshit (and Despicable Me) with Luke and Chu-chu again. I just sort of randomly spliced the posts together so make them what you will.

I'm not aware of any instances where 2-3 Hong Kong actresses were maimed during filming, but things could have been under wraps considering Hong Kong movie industry were under the control of the Triads. The "cat" in this movie is an extraterrestrial; the story was based on a very popular Hong Kong sci-fi book.

Bobert wants a Star Trek future so he could be Captain Kirk in a Data body. But in reality he would be the Jiz cleaner for the Holodeck. I mean between Gordi, Riker, and especially Barclay it was happening and someone had to clean that mess up. I hope it was a job reserved for Acting Ensigns.

Bob also saw Free Guy multiple times based on the comment about how each time he saw it with a crowd, the crowd went bananas.

As this is an edit of the cast image that was released for the "Dark Universe" that never got off the ground, is Bob saying that the animated Super Mario Bros. movie is going to flop? :lit:

I always assumed it was a nickname from high school or something.

That implies Bob would even be allowed on a space ship

Bob hopes the movie flops when the issue is that Illumination basically uses low budgets and the way they work with their movies that guarantees it would make bank especially with the release date being when it's likely that COVID hysteria would be over so the current issues with the return to theatres wouldn't affect it. Who knew that Bob's desire for the theatres reopening would end up creating his worst nightmare.
