US Joe Biden News Megathread - The Other Biden Derangement Syndrome Thread (with a side order of Fauci Derangement Syndrome)

Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

That's not so much being pussified as their ideology evolving in weird ways since Obama opened the gates of woke. In Current Year, the progs (which were also the ones calling for Bush to be killed) must decry things like violence as "toxic masculinity", so it reflects on their speech being this schizophrenic mess of euphemism and analogy.
Back during the Bush era the left hadn't become a religion yet and a lot of its members still believed in traditional civic values: open debate, plurality, rule of law, etc. It was okay to make edgy jokes and a lot of them would mock "Mann Coulter." Imagine the shitstorm that would cause now! A common sentiment was that they were the "true patriots" resisting the US getting mired in pointless wars. Then Obama took over and suddenly the wars were justified as long as he was the one dropping the bombs.

When the woke took over a new normal came with them. They had an absolute dogmatic religion that took precedence over any law or custom that came before. They weren't loyal opposition fighting for what they thought was best for the US, they wanted to tear the country down because it was irredeemably tainted by original sin. And like any cult, they preach different doctrines depending on who's listening. The weird evasiveness and inconsistency in their public messaging is because they know they can't reveal their true beliefs to the public, but at the same time they can't contradict those beliefs for the people inside who are hearing the "pure" doctrine about how all of Western society needs to be torn down.

This is wrong. Not the conclusion but the start. It was always going to end like this. This was always the end game. You do not get some middle ground live and let live bullshit that the left was pushing, from the left side of the political spectrum. It does not exist. It can not exist. What you are seeing is it's logical conclusion that people from the right said would happen back in the 60's. What you are seeing now is what Alinsky wrote about in his book that they all follow. Everything they did proceeding to this point were tactical and strategic avenues of attack to get is here.

Stop thinking this was an accident, or the left got co-opted into something "it isn't." What you are seeing IS the left unmasked. It always has this. It always will be this. It is not an accident. The sooner you accept the problem the sooner you can figure out how to actually solve it.

And if you don't believe me, read Plato's Republic. That's their goal, that always has been their goal, that always will be their goal.

Aaron Lewis is the lead singer of the band Staind, their most famous song being "It's Been Awhile", they were really big in the late 90s and early 2000s in the post-grunge era.

Lewis himself has mostly been a solo singer since around 2010 and I think he's primarily been singing country music which was a change from the rock and grunge style he did with Staind. He also came out openly in support of Trump in 2016, though he said he wasn't as big of a fan of Trump's name calling and bickering and he did wear a Make America Great Again hat at a lot of his shows.

He put this song out a few months ago and said song basically takes a shit on left wing activists.
This song was both number 2 and 3 on the charts (explicit version and radio edit), so everyone has heard about it by now.

This is true for the core of the left, the Alinskys, the critical theorists, Antifa, etc. It's not true for most of the people who joined up to rebel against Bush and the Christian fundies. Between Reagan and Obama the real leftists were mostly driven underground and what people thought of as the left was mostly people who wanted to rebel against what they saw as excesses of the right, although most of their "conservative" antagonists were just hucksters and scam artists.

I talk to a lot of those old-time liberals who still get freaked out over Christian dominionists and abortion clinic bombers and think they're on the edge of taking over the country and turning it into a theocracy. They can't see what the core of the left is advocating. Ironically, because people like Rush Limbaugh cried wolf so much about how "Hillary's gonna turn your kids gay" now that all the "queer kid outreach" is actually happening they dismiss it as a conspiracy theory because their mind is still back in the 80s and 90s and they can't grasp just how much the Overton window has moved.

I don't think they even need to plant anyone. It's Seattle. If the choice was between a centrist Republican and a Democrat who promised to force every Seattle resident to adopt a homeless violent tweaker, they'd still vote Democrat. No Republican with any ambition to get elected would run for that seat.
this is very wrong and people should pay more attention to electoral politics in OR and WA

literally everyone in both states is massively unhappy about one party rule and the GOP or a wellfunded third party could be picking off seats by the simple and obvious method of running nonwhite locals

the fact that they don't do this and instead run wellfinanced RINO loser white boomer and older gen X candidates is one of the biggest pieces of evidence imo that the GOP wants to lose

When the "Christian fundies" keep being right, when do you start asking why they are right. And if you refuse to see they are in fact correct about what they're saying and have said the problem is with you not them.

To be clear Christians are not the same as the "right" and this isn't an excuse for the Patriot Act or the 20 year long war in the graveyard of empires. Just highlighting the point that the aversion and "rebelling" going on may have more to do with kicking against pricks for all parties involved more so than rational disagreements.

i see this mindset every time i read my local newspaper's "comments from last weeks readers" section. muh dems are for the working man!

Regarding Ana Navarro the PCR tests have a disturbingly high false positive rate. To the point that the WHO has recommended a second test to confirm or showing symptoms.

They didn't necessarily fake it, just the test being unreliable.

I think thats a problem alot of us have in trying to understand the history of whats going on.

Theres that salon article that got moved to sub stack that talks about big pharma and trans rights you know making customers for life.

You also have performative wokeness where people will go along with something out of fear of being cancled or primary'd from their position.

One thing I get from both sides that gives me pause is their view of the "adversary" are they weak courpt stupid fools or super smart and sneaky playing the long game of 2^n chess?

take 9/11 was it a planned op from the US government or Israel? Or did some fucking pissed off saduis fly some plains into building creating a crisis that was used to create the forever wars?

But going back to before 9/11 to the cold war the same shit could be said about the USSR. were they a paper tiger barely able to manage themselves or a super power that again soo forward thinking playing 2^N D chess.

I posted a MSNB article where its 10 minutes of saying trump planned from the start to destroy our democracy from the start by demanding audits in states he won.

Think about that the fucker is claiming that trump had knowledge that he was gonna lose. So he's evil master plan is to make states audit the election, resulting in our destruction.

There was troon mentally ill poster on the somethingawful forums who posted his views on authoritarians and he really had a good insight into the fact that people WANT TO BELIEVE A NARATIVE, and with in groups you will have self anointed agents of X (insert ideology, economy, religion, politics) what ever.

Take trump you can say he anointed himself with the power of nationalism "make america great again" the current party I dont know what they anointed themselves with I guess "were not trump"

The progressives are a very loud group but honestly a minority and as was pointed out in this thread to get in with the dems you need to make a name get noticed and basically groomed to move in the organization.

So I would argue that the few progs who have any power (the sqaud) are not true believers in anything other than getting power (like all politicians really)

Just as Qanon had a "trust the plan" fan fiction I view the idea that the left 50+ years had a master plan.

Instead history and ideology are being shifted by everybody to help create a narrative because its something we humans like to do.

@Gehenna has a very nice narrative about the dems being part of a uniparty machine that is basically breaking down because they ignored the people who put them in power. Trump was a very nasty threat and they stole the election. Now having secured power and defeating the adversary, which was the only thing holding the collation together, they had no political capital so the fucked up Afghanistan, worse the party was gonna use the infrastructure bill to pay for the election rigging and biden being a corpse cant impose any leadership on these groups so now we are getting a faction war going hot.

This under failure of the plan, in which 2016 would never have happened. Hell I still think of jim saying "well 2016 proves one thing the election wasnt rigged"

The 2020 plan is also in shambles. But I m sure in 20 years this will be glossed over and part the plan from the start.

All the slippery slope predictions by the old-school conservatives ended up coming true. However, the religious right and much of the rest of the conservative establishment from Reagan to Bush were not the kind of right wing that aimed to strengthen the country and further its interests. They were grifters who wanted to con old ladies into sending them their retirement checks. Conservatives who conserve nothing... you know the drill.

Like PETA, they made an uproar over trivial issues in order to draw attention to themselves. Their fights over Harry Potter, Teletubbies and Pokemon did nothing but help them line their pockets with the side effect of making the right look ridiculous. These antics are embedded in the memories of entire generations, and this allowed the left to brand itself as "the reality-based community." The sincere beliefs of rank-and-file Republicans were exploited to push through things like the forever wars and the Patriot Act.

People like Pat Robertson probably did more than the Weathermen or Obama ever could have to bring about the current woke hell because they helped the left disguise themselves as the reasonable side, and a lot of people are too comfortable with the beliefs they adopted in the 2000s to revise them even with overwhelming evidence of what the left truly stands for.

I'm sure Fauci thinks this is treason then.

A key part about being good at political analysis is being able to discard the narratives that make you feel good. Mind, that doesn't just mean narratives that make your side win. Saying "There is totally a plan here by the democrats, a master plan 50 years in the making" counts too, because it neatly explains everything for the last 50 years... don't mind the fact it doesn't.

The real world isn't neat.

Don't let your dreams be dreams

A federal judge has approved the unconditional release next year of John Hinckley Jr., who wounded late President Ronald Reagan and three others outside a Washington, D.C., hotel in a failed assassination attempt in 1981.

Hinckley is now 66 years old, and has been living outside a mental health facility for the past several years, a result of a gradual lightening of supervision. His lawyer said the "momentous event" of Hinckley's full release in June 2022 is both appropriate and required by the law.

"There is no evidence of danger whatsoever," said Barry Wm. Levine, adding that Hinckley has an "excellent" prognosis.

Prosecutor Kacie Weston said the Justice Department agreed to a settlement but wanted to monitor Hinckley for the next nine months because of two big changes in his life: he's living on his own for the first time in about 40 years, and because one of his primary doctors is preparing for retirement and disbanding Hinckley's therapy group. DOJ said it would file a motion with the court before June of next year if it had fresh concerns about Hinckley.

"Ultimately your honor, at this point, the ball is in Mr. Hinckley's hands," Weston said.

Senior U.S. District Judge Paul Friedman pointed out that "very few patients at St. Elizabeths Hospital have been studied more thoroughly than John Hinckley."

In 1982, a jury found Hinckley not guilty by reason of insanity. He had been on trial for the shooting a year earlier of former President Reagan, White House Press Secretary James Brady, Secret Service agent Timothy McCarthy and Washington Metropolitan Police officer Thomas Delahanty.

After the verdict, Hinckley was committed to St. Elizabeths Hospital, in Washington, D.C., where he resided for more than three decades. Starting in 2003, restrictions on Hinckley gradually lessened.

Five years ago, the court granted him convalescent leave to live full time in the community. Hinckley went to live with his mother in Williamsburg, Va. She died in her sleep earlier this summer at age 95.

Last year, the Department of Behavioral Health proposed a release for Hinckley with no conditions, telling the court he posed "low risk for future violence." The department reiterated that proposal earlier this year.

Hinckley previously had been ordered to stay away from actress Jodie Foster, whom he said helped inspire his assassination attempt, as well as the families of Reagan and others wounded during his attack outside a Washington, D.C., hotel.

The court has allowed him to release art work and music under his own name, and Hinckley created a YouTube channel where he sings and plays guitar. He had been working in a Virginia antique mall before the coronavirus pandemic.

His lawyer said Hinckley wanted to express apologies and "profound regret" to the families of his victims, Foster and the American people. He cast the eventual release as a "victory for mental health."

Levine, a longtime lawyer for Hinckley, said his client has followed the rules and the law for years.

"His mental disease is in full, stable and complete remission and has been so for over three decades," Levine said.

Saying "There is totally a plan here by the democrats, a master plan 50 years in the making" counts to, because it neatly explains everything for the last 50 years... don't mind the fact it doesn't.

The real world isn't neat.

Beside the propensity to see a plan, people also like to see hierarchy. They want to see a pyramid, a man in charge, a grand conspiracy. And a lot of people think that a big conspiracy with a shadowy Mr. X is the only way that massive, long term 3fforts can come to fruition.

That kind of outcome doesn't require a massive top down conspiracy, it can be achieved with basic flocking behavior.

You don't need a grand council of evil Democrats/radical Marxists, just a few influential ones to get the ball rolling and imprint simple behaviors including propagation of the behavior. Wait a few years and you have huge swaths of 'radicals' operating under very simple behavioral rules that has them moving in concert without centralized coordination.

They aren't puppets that fall over when the strings are cut, they are autonomous drones mindlessly moving like a school of fish.

Basic models of flocking behavior are controlled by three simple rules:
Separation - avoid crowding neighbours (short range repulsion)
Alignment - steer towards average heading of neighbours
Cohesion - steer towards average position of neighbours (long range attraction)

With these three simple rules, the flock moves in an extremely realistic way, creating complex motion and interaction that would be extremely hard to create otherwise.

You don't need a grandmaster Mr. X to lead an entire group, each member is acting undirected - but with subroutines that create the appearance of coordinated and directed action.

These are the dividends of the long march, a distributed mass of autonomous zombies that have no heirarchy, forming ad hoc networks with different motivations and methods but all pre-programmed to pursue the same goal by their brainwashing.

So it's not just Mark Milley who actively hates everyone under his command. The people running the US Air Force do too.
