It sounds like she's game for the former. She's openly talking about flying in foreign workers from random places like the Philippines or Ireland as if that'd somehow fix the fucking problem. Ok I went and answered my own question. As of Sept. 22, according to state data, New York has roughly 450,000 hospital workers. Also according to state data, only 85% of them are vaccinated which means... roughly 67,000 employees are unvaccinated and going to be fired tonight. That's more than 3 times the size of the entire National Guard. THIS POLICY IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ENFORCE WITHOUT MASSIVE MANPOWER SHORTAGES. But she's implementing it anyways. Jesus fuck

Dont forget the lenght of time required for this.
If it was a 1:1 replacement it would still take a minimum of 90 days to fully train the replacements, so 90 days of paying "nurses" with National Guard Salaries.
Now imagine that with the shortages, and the obvious attempts to cut their pays.

Back during the Bush era the left hadn't become a religion yet and a lot of its members still believed in traditional civic values: open debate, plurality, rule of law, etc. It was okay to make edgy jokes and a lot of them would mock "Mann Coulter." Imagine the shitstorm that would cause now! A common sentiment was that they were the "true patriots" resisting the US getting mired in pointless wars. Then Obama took over and suddenly the wars were justified as long as he was the one dropping the bombs.

When the woke took over a new normal came with them. They had an absolute dogmatic religion that took precedence over any law or custom that came before. They weren't loyal opposition fighting for what they thought was best for the US, they wanted to tear the country down because it was irredeemably tainted by original sin. And like any cult, they preach different doctrines depending on who's listening. The weird evasiveness and inconsistency in their public messaging is because they know they can't reveal their true beliefs to the public, but at the same time they can't contradict those beliefs for the people inside who are hearing the "pure" doctrine about how all of Western society needs to be torn down.

Exact same thing as how they treat religion, morality, justice, and community. When it is favor of the things they want, its great, and shouldn't be ignored.

When it runs against their goals? Well, Religion is the source of all evil, Morality is just people in power emotionally oppressing those under them, Justice is just a right wing dog whistle in stacked courts, and Community is one step removed from fascism.

There's about... let's say, 15,000 to 20,000 total National Guardsmen in New York. Obviously you can't de-facto disband every unit of it and force all the personnel in it to go work in the hospitals, and then you have to take out the non 'medically trained' Guardsmen, so the manpower available is rather lower. How many nurses and hospital employees are going to be fired tonight? I'm not sure if the numbers will add up for this to work.

The odds of the NG refusing to comply with a lawful and not particularly immoral order (They're not the ones firing them, they're just filling in for a state need) is exceedingly low. The odds of them getting anything more than a fraction of the available force into hospitals is slim, they're gonna realize pretty quick that most of the NG is useless for medical work. Any resistance will be around that front, keeping operational efficiency while supporting the ask.
