When someone complains about the "US-backed Neo-Nazis" in Azov, that's the clearest tell that they have almost no comprehension of the Russo-Ukrainian War or Geopolitics in general.

As someone who has been around alt right/far right/nationalist circles, especially in 2014-15, I can tell you this is a fucking lie. Neo-nazi support for Euromaiden was often debated in these circles and many in the pro Russian camp thought these guys were stooges or feds.

There seemed to be no reason for Nazis to support a blatant globohomo regime powergrab led by literal Jews. That's why people were very skeptical of the whole "neo-nazi" branding of the situation and why it stunk of badly rehashed Soviet-era propaganda.

The Soviets used to blame a lot on Nazis or other reactionary elements to get people to ignore what they were doing, and much like American boomer feds trying to make the KKK relevant, Russian boomer feds try to pretend Neo-Nazis are a genuine political threat in Eastern Europe. They fall back on what they knew when they were young and it never works quite right.

Popular YouTuber Natalie Wynn AKA ContraPoints has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way by posting a message that criticizes Gen Z LGBTQ+ people for using terminology in paradoxical and contradictory ways. In a now-deleted tweet that’s blowing up all over the internet (well, bits of it anyway) she said:

“Gen Z people are hard to figure out. They’re like ‘I’m an asexual slut that loves sex! You don’t have to be trans to be trans. Casual reminder that your heterosexuality doesn’t make your gayness any less valid!'”

This is the Twitter equivalent of pouring gasoline on a hornet’s nest, kicking it, and then setting it alight. Here’s a selection of how it’s gone down:
