I think yes. They expect strangers on the internet to just heed a simple warning (that usually also gives said strangers ammo to trigger them) and not interact, but are the same people to ignore tags, warnings, and the like of all sorts and then get mad when they could've avoided seeing anything they didn't want to see had they applied their own logic to their own behavior. It could also be a performative activism banner that "proves" they're against X thing/person/etc.

Also I believe they either consciously or subconsciously kind of want people to trigger them. Remember this is the same crowd who twists and turns literally anything into something "problematic," they THRIVE on getting angry and triggered. Even on places like tumblr people are notorious for clicking on "reveal anyway" when someone posts something that has a tag they blacklisted, or reading tweets with "CW/TW" at the beginning. It's all performative, like you said. To show off both woke points and how special smol and uwu you are.
