I find it so tiring to read the same shitty arguments over and over again. It has happened more than once that I've typed out a reply to someone laying out why the study they're pointing to doesn't actually say what they think it says, and then deleted the post because I realized it's a waste of time because there's no getting through to them anyway.

People will dismiss something as government propaganda an hour after posting it in support of their own argument when you show them that they misread it. The very same document goes from trustworthy to trash the moment they realize it doesn't actually confirm their beliefs. And realizing that doesn't even make them pause and reflect for a bit, but instead they'll just move on to the next thegatewaypundit post that uses a misinterpreted piece of data to produce a clickbaity headline. And if that turns out to be bunk, it's on to the next one.

COVID has a 99.99% survival rate. Living in a skilled nursing home for a few years until you die of pneumonia and infected bed sores still counts as surviving COVID.

It's true, the current crop of anti-vaxers are poseurs and dilettantes without an original bone in their bodies. What made anti-vaxers fun in the past was they'd always have these weirdly specific predictions of the harm caused by a vaccine, usually some widespread problem that could be blamed on widespread vaccine adoption. MMR makes your baby autistic, Gardasil will turn your daughter into a barren slut. We don't have any fun predictions like that for the COVID vaccines.
