Do you hate anime? - What’s your reasons for disliking it? Can you elaborate?

Some of it is good, most of it isn't. At the end of the day, it's just a medium of entertainment. As long as you treat it as such and don't get autistically obsessed with it, or god-forbid make it your identity, there is nothing wrong with watching anime once in a while.

Stay far away from the fandom though, you gain nothing from interacting with those loons. Most of what you get is people calling your taste inferior, pseudo-intellectual "analysis", and stupid memes.

I hate weebs to an extent, but I hate ironic weebs and people who are openly FUCK WEEBS AMIRITE GUYS just as much if not more so. Because with Weebs, at least they're sincerely enjoying the stuff they like, it's just they have no sense of self awareness.

I enjoy some anime, and even japanese literature, but I also agree with Miyazaki's statement that anime today is ugly, partially because its being done by humans who hate being with other humans.
But at the same time, anime and to a lesser extent japanese literature have given me some great shit that I will never see adapted properly in any medium due to its unique take that can only be done in those mediums in that language "Welcome to the NHK" being an example.

Japanese Rhythm Games, however, is the one thing I will go full weeb on.

I think new anime looks like fucking shit in terms of animation fluidity and charm

Alright drunk posting whatever

I hate grown ass men that think anime girls are true representation of womanhood. It’s usually a male fantasy masquerading as femininity.

every time I see some degenerate touching their sexless peen to anime I think

“Ceci n’est pas une pipe”

All these anime huffing communists who drone on about theory n shit and they haven’t read “Simulacra & Simulation” by Jean Baudrillard. You’re living it, you fuckin’ weebs.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t go around in public spewing vitriol at any anime lover that passes by, just as long as it’s not shoved down my throat, I won’t comment on it.

Unfortunately however it’s becoming increasingly harder to ignore, as it is becoming a firmly mainstream hobby. I half expect that at some point in the future it’ll be considered bizarre not to like anime, and people will begin to assume you are either old or live under a rock in your downtime.

I saw Akira once.

It was boring and not nearly as good as King of the Hill and The Simpsons.

Same, I think it’s very overrated.

Someone made me watch it as they said it’s one of the ‘best evarrrr’ alongside Fist of the North Star (I think it’s called that), and my mind ended up wandering to what the latest updates were for the Premier League halfway through.

Honestly, I thought reading manga was the superior choice. Nowadays, even though manga is getting popular in North America, I do wonder if they are actually fans of it. Most of them seem to like it due to the image of reading it, and widespread social media use does not help.

That's completely fine. I'm more or less just trying to say 'live and let live'

Then removing it isnt the cure either.

Western troonism is caused by a variety of factors, from the internet enforcing hugboxes for narcissists, decades of western decadence leading to entire generations growing up with no real problems to overcome, decades of white guilt being pushed to make white men hate themselves and seek out a way to change their identity and claw back social capital, grifters finding a new way to be above all criticism, the absence of religion leading people to uncounsously seek out a new belief system to follow, the list goes on.

Pro tip: the young black community LOVES anime. Yet they dont troon out anywhere near as often as white men do. The chinese also love anime, they dont troon out. Trooning is mainly a western europe/america/canada thing, and then only certain subsets of these countries.

So no, I dont hate anime because "muh degenracy" isnt caused by it, thus I have no reasont o hate it. It's a form of entertainment, and one that can occasionally still put out something good, more often then western media can manage these days.
anime turns people into pedophiles more than it troons them.

I personally don't care much for anime though I do absolutely hate those fucks that obsess over it. Sure anime can be entertaining but goddamn it's just animation from Japan, it's not that special. I more or less try to avoid those people if possible.

That is categorically worse, also one tends to also result in the other to a disturbing degree. I mean the TERFS are already clued up on that front.

This is the ‘adjacent bit’ I’m talking about, btw.

It's too derivative. A lot of the writing is also really lazy, like dialog/exposition getting dumped on you until you can't possible comprehend anymore. Confusion/"I have no idea what's going on" = good story (to some people.)

Characters and stories of modern anime seem almost copy-paste. It's crazy that people have to go back multiple decades sometimes to reference "good" anime. Given the sheer volume of it, there should be modern classics.

There are hidden gems for sure. Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex is probably the best example of a series that I wouldn't mind recommending to someone who was curious about anime, but wanted to avoid waifu bait and other oddities. The standalone episodes in particular are excellent.

There's also weird shit like Serial Experiments Lain, which I think is a true artistic achievement despite it not making sense on any level.

What's not to love?

  • It's cute
  • It's funny
  • It makes people mad
  • It warms the heart
  • It makes excellent shitposting material
The only reason you would hate anime is because you're a sourpuss who lives in perpetual misery.
